Rotel States The New A8 Offers No-Compromise Hi-Fi At Lower Price
Rotel touts the entry-level A8 integrated amplifier as a “no compromise, high-performance” component.
The A8 enters the lineup as the “most cost-efficient” model in the series that includes the A10 MKII and A11 MKII integrateds while still being engineered as a “no-compromise, Class AB fully integrated solution” thanks to Rotel's extensive experience in crafting high-value audio components that are made to last.
The new integrated amplifier features a slimline 60mm chassis enclosing a bespoke, high-current toroidal transformer that helps the A8 deliver 40 watts of power into 4 ohms. Rotel states that this results in a “controlled bass energy, an ultra-refined midrange plus a highly detailed soundstage”.
Around the back, the A8 offers a trio of line-level stereo RCA inputs for your CD player, tape deck, tuner or the analogue out from a streamer or DAC. Meanwhile, the dedicated moving magnet phono stage is ready to accept vinyl duties. Additionally, you will find five-way speaker binding posts.
Alongside the fascia-mounted 3.5mm headphone jack, there are dials for bass, treble, and balance to tweak your listening experience. An included remote allows you to control aspects such as volume and source selection from your listening position.
Per Daren Orth, Rotel's Chief Technology Officer, told StereoNET:
Creating a high-performance integrated amplifier, engineered without compromise and available at an exceptionally high-value price point, is a challenge few companies are able to even consider. Our policy of designing and manufacturing all key components in-house has given us the opportunity to create the A8, a true hi-fi quality system component that brings the same Rotel quality and performance to a whole new audience of passionate music fans.
Rotel's A8 will be available in August for $449 USD in stylish black and sophisticated silver variants.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
