Pro-Ject Juke Box E1: Just Add Speakers Vinyl Playback
Pro-Ject's new Juke Box E1 just needs speakers to start your vinyl journey – or get the Juke Box E1 SET for true stereo convenience.
The Pro-Ject Juke Box E has won many fans looking to dip their toes into the world of vinyl just as the original Pro-Ject Juke Box blazed a trail as the vinyl revival was really becoming a thing.
The latest incarnation is the Pro-Ject Juke Box E1, which upgrades the tonearm and sub-platter drive system and offers more user-friendly switching between 33 and 45 RPM. Naturally, the central ingredients of Bluetooth and onboard amplification are still very much part of the mix.
Yes, this is more than an all-in-one analogue playback machine, as the inclusion of Bluetooth means you can squirt music over to it from your phone or tablet. Meanwhile, the integrated phono stage, pre-amplifier and power amplifier eliminate the need for separates. Furthermore, should you want an entire package, Pro-Ject offers a pair of speakers for the system for a little more cash.
The deck is based on the E1 turntable and features a CNC-machined wood chassis, aluminium tonearm and Ortofon OM 5E cartridge. This is all connected to a 50W per-channel Class D amplifier. The tonearm comes pre-set and balanced, so all you have to do is attach the drive belt, place the platter and plug the deck into the mains.
There's a neat display that shows the volume and input, as well as the turntable speed selector. Volume is handled by a 32-step potentiometer.
The Juke Box E1 is available now in black, white, red and walnut finishes, costing $799 USD.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
