MONITOR AUDIO’S STUDIO SPEAKERS TO FEATURE IN MUNICH
Monitor Audio’s rather splendid Studio stand mount speakers will be appearing at this year’s Munich High-End show later this month.
Having been unveiled in Bristol earlier this year at the Sound & Vision Show, we can say they are well worth checking out.
Officially released in March, Studio shares technology from Monitor Audio’s flagship speakers, even though pricing is more in line with the brand's Gold 50 and Gold 1000 loudspeakers.
Flanking the honeycomb covered tweeter is a pair of 10cm drivers that use the same magnetic design and materials as the ones in the brand’s flagship Platinum PL500 II floor standers.
The metallic-silver RDT II cones with C-CAM technology (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) are housed in a cast polymer chassis for improved rigidity and damping.
Taking care of the high-end is an MPD (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) transducer that has been designed to provide better articulation due to the low mass diaphragm.
The drivers are clamped to a die-cast aluminium sub-base and feature Monitor Audio’s bolt-through fixings.
Rear-facing HiVe II slot ports have been mounted at both the top and bottom of the cabinet to ensure even pressure distribution.
The handcrafted 340 mm x 156.2 mm x 360.9 mm cabinet features a grille-less design, that honeycomb tweeter cover and a metal logo at the base, a design which also extends to the optional $745-per-pair bespoke stands. These are made of steel and die-cast aluminium with four adjustable feet and are available in a black or white finish.
The Studio speakers which are available now are priced at $2,500 RRP pair, and are available in satin black, white and grey finishes. Optional stands are also available for $1000 RRP pair.
We currently have the Studio speakers in the StereoNET NZ office for a full review. Stay tuned!
