Marantz Announces Two New Streaming Amplifiers

It's never been easier to stream your favourite tunes all day long with a simple swipe or two of your fingers, and Marantz wants to make that even easier with the announcement of its Model M1 and M4 streaming amplifiers.

MODEL M1

The MODEL M1 is an ultra-compact and versatile new generation of wireless streaming amplifier that the company says has been “carefully engineered to offer great sound from a wide range of streamed music services”.

Equipped with both analogue and digital inputs, the Model M1 can be seamlessly connected to physical music sources and your TV. It's designed to power a wide range of loudspeakers, from compact designs to floorstanders, or ceiling and wall-mounted speakers. With its highly efficient high-power amplification, it offers a staggering 100W of stereo output with an incredibly low distortion rate of just 0.005% THD via its digital inputs. This is a figure that is typically found in amplifiers that cost significantly more, promising a high-quality sound experience.

MODEL M1 supports the full high-resolution music experience over streamed services, your network or even USB, including 24-bit/192kHz PCM support and provision for DSD.

Use the HEOS app to access all the music services available on the HEOS platform, including the soon-to-be-released updates for TIDAL and Roon Ready support. MODEL M1 also supports Bluetooth, Spotify Connect and AirPlay2, and you can even play audio from a locally connected USB-A drive, making this compact product a powerhouse of connected, streamed and network-served high-resolution audio.

The ultra-compact but versatile MODEL M1 streaming amplifier will be available starting June 2024 and will sell for $999 USD.

MODEL M4

Packed with all the functionality of the M1, the MODEL M4 is a dedicated rack-mountable amplifier that allows four independent rooms in your home to each enjoy their own music listening. All four rooms are driven by one robust installation-optimised amplifier equipped with 8 x 100w of output and 4 x independent HEOS modules.

With fan cooling for stable operation even in enclosed spaces and included rack-mount ears for easy installation, MODEL M4 is the perfect complement to a whole-home HEOS-based multi-room audio system. Pair it with other MODEL M4s, MODEL M1s, or other HEOS-enabled components to enjoy sound everywhere you want to listen to it. Its fitted optical digital inputs and the Dolby Digital decoder even allow you to share your TV's sound throughout your home if you so wish.

Marantz says its new “MODEL M1 and MODEL M4 deliver Marantz musicality effortlessly, whether you're listening to music, watching TV or sharing your sounds across your whole home.”

The Marantz MODEL M1 is available now priced at $999 USD. The MODEL M4 is priced at $3,499 USD and is expected to follow soon.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
