Yup, they should donate to them more than anyone :)

I hope you don't get exhibitors like at the last show who couldn't be arsed to actually hook up a system so they had static display of (for example) Diamonds and if memory serves the big KEF blades but I might be wrong with that particular memory.

I remember wanting to shove the flyer the salesman was handing out straight back at him but I resisted the impulse.

I do remember saying; Why bother with the actual speakers, why not just leave your on loop video presentation in the room?

Or perhaps you could sharpen your pencil even more and forget the video and just prop up some pics of the speakers with a ph number and a link address.

Complete waste of an exhibition space IMO.

Numpties.

Nice to see we are at the Pullman Hotel... looks like the sort of place an International hifi show should be held!

i was guessing we would end up here as there was only a few to choose from and some bigger rooms to invite some classy gear! Happy days!!! :)  :D

I don't know if this is the appropriate thread in which to raise this but here goes.

I had intended to buy and wear a Stereonet T shirt to the event in the hope of being identifiable and meeting other members, but given Melbourne weather in July won't most of us be 'rugged up' with some layers of clothes, thus making identification of members via T shirts near impossible.

Perhaps in the future Stereonet could consider some other forms of member identification eg cap ,or scarf,or cloth badge that can stitched onto a piece of our own clothing eg jacket, jumper.

Hope this doesn't sound trivial,it's just that I think being able to see at a glance someone is a member makes it much less difficult to initiate a conversation with what is really a total stranger.

In my experience of these shows it will be so stinking hot inside that you'll be fine in a t shirt.

On that note, there's always a few people who don't know the meaning of the word "shower" and the word "deodorant ". Please please please consider others ...

Just wear the t-shirt over the top of your other clothes.  Pretty standard dress for us Southern Slobs.

Yes ... Actually thought about that, but some of us northerners like to bung on a bit of pretentiousness when in "the big smoke" ,and I think that might look a little too uncool.

+1.  It never helps when you can't open hotel windows, either...

Could we have a "Vintage System" room? I believe there are guys who run such a room in the states and is very popular. Maybe some lovely Sansui gear with appropriate speakers and sources...

Cheers

I'll tow my caravan up and place it in the shows foyer, big sound, small spaces it'll be called.

Ok, bad idea.......

That's been discussed elsewhere here @@unclemack.

We certainly don't have any rooms to "give away" - and I don't know of any punters who would volunteer to lug all their gear, set-up, incur associated expenses, man the room all weekend, all for very little in return.

It's a great idea, but I don't ever see it getting off the ground realistically.

thanks @@Marc. Thought it may have been broached already. Nice idea if impractical. Cheers. M

While you're at it, you can test the F1 track with your caravan...☺ï¸

I just received an email re the Chester Group show in October at the Rialto.  They're billing it as "The real Australian HiFi and AV Show".  Guess that implies Marc's is unreal?

There's the old "Beware of imitations" line included prominently too. :D

I'm definitely intending to be at the one in July, and possibly October as well - so it will be an interesting comparison.

Look forward to catching up again @@Tony M.

Actually we're loosely looking at holding a GTG on the Saturday night at a pretty cool spot. More info as it gets closer to the date.
