In this country "Consumer Nervosa" exists because the hobby is regarded as elitist and snobby.

I'm in my mid 50's and most if not all of my friend's think " Oh, I couldn't afford it and b) what a waste of money". The destruction of sound quality downloads , think ITunes, has contributed to the perception " why would you bother anyway ". Dealer's with signs By appointment only, don't help.

There needs to be a major shake up in the marketing of our hobby. One which is active and inclusive of all interested parties. I have seen some efforts on social media , but it's pretty paltry.

Why not have a completion where a random person is selected to win a well thought rig, based around computer audio, on a "like and share " basis. It's called base level Networking, it's cheap and effective.

We have exactly this, and much more planned once our marketing efforts kick off for the StereoNET show. :thumb:

It's too soon to start our consumer level marketing. We're concentrating on our local exhibitors and international guests first - then once we have a lineup confirmed - we'll kick the marketing machine into gear.

Aside from our reach on here, and our social media platforms, we also have 38,000 email subscribers, and we're also looking to mainstream marketing outside our circles to get new blood in.

All this really is just basic marketing and should be a given for a well organised show.

Well yes -but make it open ended for attendees--at the US shows the local Audio clubs have rather boring "club" rooms set aside for "members' --my suggestion would be for something similar to the NFS ( "Not for Sale") room at The Show which was at the Flamingo LV

run by a couple of Vegas locals-- had great music playing( Vinyl!) low lighting /comfy chairs/etc and large range of local wines to sample-- it was an oasis for the foot weary!--always busy and friendly

Possible interest some Oz wineries to contribute together with local speaker/amp /source as music proviso!

I agree with the comments Aust Audio could sure do with a well organised local production Show--Kudos to SNet--let's hope it gets to fruition! :thumb:

What I want to know, and at least a few months before hand, is apart from demo rooms and the like, will there also be seminars and lectures like they do at the Rocky Mountain show. Basically I need to know this because I can either see the whole event in one day, or spend three days there seeing a programmed seminar schedule.

And hopefully, but I guess it will happen, and list of what will be at the show, considering some people like myself will be traveling a great distance and don't want to arrive and it's a let down (though I doubt this will happen)

And the idea of a stereo net lounge of some description is not a bad idea, a place to go to find other members easily.

Some overseas shows raffle off prizes donated by exhibitors and donate the amount raised to a charity, perhaps this can be something you could incorporate @@Marc

All valid points. We lined up our first international guest (and speaker) yesterday, and there's loads more in the works.

All will be revealed in due course. The marketing machine fired up today with the first of the teasers.

The new and full website should be online late next week, and that will list the first of our confirmed exhibitors.

There's lots to do as you can imagine.

We're currently investigating potential charities for donating a percentage of our ticket sales to. The Deafness Foundation seems an obvious choice, but could also be seen in poor taste as well - really unsure?

Awesome, thanks Marc, I was hoping it will be more than just rooms with gear in them.

Umm, Marc, I know that there should be a visa needed and probably a border crossing but Syndal isn't actually international and Evil c will have them running, screaming and pulling their hair out and gnashing their teeth about 10 minutes into to his exposition on Yammy NS 1000's.

Invite Roger Sanders instead and line it up with Bill at Gosford. Lot of interest in those amps as you know.

Maybe one of the acoustical experts from the 'pro-audio' area could be enticed to provide a series of lectures/demos during the days of the show, and designed to cater for the more 'non-technical' hifi consumers and to 'keep it simple' - most of us are aware of the significance of the correct position of the listening and the speaker positions in our rooms, but few of us are comfortable/familiar with talk about bass traps, room damping, first reflections, diffusion, multiple subs, etc and how to 'get started' - unfortunately, the 'magic dsp' doesn't take care of room deficiencies, so that 'perfect sound' does require more effort ...

Although perhaps not feasible from a cost perspective, this kind of show is the perfect environment for a demonstration because you could potentially have two identical rooms set up; one treated, and one not.

Good choice IMO.

Interestingly in reply to this, StereoNET has just contracted one of Australia's leading Acousticians who is currently rewriting and updating their materials for a series of 'HiFi and Room Acoustics' workshops we'll be likely running in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in the very near future.

The intention is a good one but likely to be perceived by non-SNA folk as being in poor taste.

Supporting a charity for the blind on the other hand...

If you wanna kill two birds with one stone, why not raffle off budget gear donated by exhibitors and displayed in the show's foyer? All money to charity.

Something to do with laws in Australia in regards to food handling, but any food offered at the hotel must be supplied by the venue or venue approved catering supplier.

Sorry, but offering any money to any charity regardless can not been seen being in poor taste.
