Guest guru Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Seems like a very quiet announcement. Edited November 13, 2015 by guru
wolster Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Go to the top right tab on the home page That's been there for a while but there may well have been a more recent announcement @@Marc
Guest Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 No, no "official" announcement yet. Just teasers turning up around the place. 2.5 years in the making, there will be a big song and dance, rest assured. www.hifishow.com.au 10

To Die For Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Great news everyone , Hifi show Melbourne 2016 presented by stereonet . Edited November 17, 2015 by Audio addiction

Luc Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Had a good chinwag with Glorious Leader at Evil's meatfest over the weekend and the preliminary planning as you'd imagine has been going on for some time and there is still a fair bit of fine tuning to be done as you can imagine but with the venue rooms all but booked out by exhibitors it is looking like a goer if not a success. I wish the GL well in this venture as he's taking a very large financial risk with this and also he's announcing to the Australian HiFi establishment that SNA is far far more than a website for nutters and pointyheads who like playing with cables and chunks of milled aluminium. I think this will really shift some peoples focus in the industry and the sometimes glib remarks and looks I've gotten over the years when I mention SNA to various retailers might well be a thing of the past...I hope it is. There will be record stalls and negotiations continue with one very big Aus wide retailer who may well have a large presence there, I hope this eventuates. This show will be after the Munich Show and early indications are that some of the new goodies from there will get there first outing Downunder at this event. While it's certainly not incumbent for us to go there, you'd like to think that we'll all make the effort to go there and support our site and possibly have the biggest GTG yet in SNA's history at some nice eatery. The event been planned to coincide with the mid term school holidays so it's the perfect excuse to bring the family down to sunny umm mild err a bit bright, ...well OK then it is Melbourne in July so it may well be bleak but everyone needs to experience winter otherwise you'll never appreciate summer will you. I'll be booking flights after Xmas I think and already the prospect of several days of audio heaven and evenings with friends and the obligatory bottle of free bubbly(I'll find it if it's there trust me)is a tantalising one. 5
Sparkle Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Well LUC, thanks for the insight! I hope this show proves to be the shot in the arm that the Oz hifi world needs. When talking about the joys of a Melbourne winter winter, I think you are on DRUGS , Still we will be indoors most of the time so I'm hoping we won't notice! Can't wait!.
Guest Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Thanks for the kind comments and the showing of support, particularly @@Luc. Yes there is a lot riding on this, and my wife really needs the credit for finally pushing me to do it quite some time ago. Together, It has taken us over a year to find a suitable and willing venue, and we've been through heaps of them and even nearly signed contracts with some until we felt we could still do better. It's not easy, and it brings with it significant financial risk on our part. But .... we think there is a very good opportunity as Luc suggests to really raise StereoNET's profile within the industry by successfully organising one of these shows. Combine that with the ongoing requests we've received from industry members for a truly independent, Australian organisation to run a show - and here we are. The marketing materials and full website are almost complete. There's just the last couple of things to check off before we can officially launch this. 2
Guest Sime Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I'll make the trip down for it. I don't work and really can't afford to, so I'll find a cheap hotel and I'll get there
Guest guru Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 If it's all but booked out for exhibitors then it must be an invitation only show for sponsors. Guess we catch up in October then.
Guest Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 @@guru - please do not jump to conclusions. You will be contacted with the relevant information, in due course. We would love to have you there. Luc's comment was in reference to a comment I made about "expressions of interest", rather than "bookings". We'd be mad to have a "stereonet sponsor" show only.
Guest Sime Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 If you can get Chord there with Rob watts present, I'd be there screaming like a girl at a One direction concert. I know it's sad.
Guest Sime Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Are you going for the most awesome person of the year award? @@Marc
Hergest Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Melbourne in July, a chance to dig out the Harris tweed I'm looking forward to it already. 1
Tony M Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 We Adelaide Hills dwellers can cope with anything a puny Melbourne winter can throw at us. Reckon it might pay to book early for this one - sounds very exciting already. 2
Saxon Hall Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 July is the best time of the year in Melbourne. Middle of the Footy Season. Yay And all those bracing walks through Melbourne's splendid parks on a beautiful crisp morning. Perfect timing there Marc 3
