I actually think the OAD is the better phono stage, more organic with much more configuration options. To me the R35 seems quieter (blacker background) but ultimately what tipped the scales was the keen price I managed to get an R35 for.

If I was paying the same I think I wouldve gone the OAD, but it wouldve been close!

Noted...so let me know when you decide to trade up to the OAD ??

@Hydrology hi mate, could you share your experience with the wharfys so far. how do they sound?

Big! Great soundstage, wonderful heft in the low end with good control. Sweet mids and top end. More depth than my previous speakers - by that I mean front to back.

Loving them!

Big job for today - after 15 years of living with a (shitty) colour that my ex-wife picked out for the alcove, it was time for a change...

Trim the excess in the morning, re-mount the TV, put the hifi back together and we're done (apart from new cabinet and blinds)

Stunning mate.

How are you finding the difference in SQ between your analogue setup and your digital one?

Different!!!

The digital rig is great in the sense that Im discovering so much new music that I then seek out and buy on vinyl!

I do use the digital side of things throughout the week, with the vinyl taking up the weekends when time allows a bit more of a slowing down.

But if I had to pick, I'm a vinyl guy!

Trying out the dCS Network Bridge this weekend. Will compare it to the onboard streaming of the Element M.

SO, compared the dCS Bridge to my Matrix Audio Element M (using the MA as DAC). Difference was substantial - better imaging, wider soundstage, more effortless - I would say more analogue but perhaps just more musical. No if only I had some spare cash because these suckers increase to 10K in a couple of weeks!!!

And you rate the Matrix Audio as a DAC higher than the internal DACs of the Hegel?

I would say there isnt much in it to be honest, so I think I would be happy with something like the Bridge connected into the Hegel. One less box!

@Hydrology

Gday Mark, system looks beautiful as always. Are you going to use the Hegel DAC with the Zen ?

And in the earlier pic of the Matrix in the system, there are two round silver and black items on top, I have seen Jon Darko use them in his system, what are they ?

Having now decided to go for an Innuos ZEN MK3 server, my Matrix Audio Element M DAC/Streamer is now up for sale:-

Good move.  I assume you are also reducing your box count by getting rid of a server?

Curious to hear if you have any comment on how the Zen Mk3, as a streamer, compares with the dCS Network Bridge (which I have tested)?

Just door stoppers from Bunnings. Cheap exercise in isolation!

Yes the plan is USB from the Innuos to the Hegel. When Roon certification comes for the amp I'll re-explore connection via Ethernet.

Yep the Nucleus has just sold. Will be interesting comparison as I absolutely loved the dCS in the mix, but trying to keep the boxcount down!

So now anxiously waiting for the Innuos ZEN MK3 to arrive (another week or so).

Music listening just hasnt been the same the last 2 weeks without Roon in the mix!
