Hi all

Ive found a creek obh9 mc phono stage on gumtree with the better obh2 power supply and was just wondering if anyone has used on before, a few revoews i have read it seems pretty good. It would be paird up with a denon dl-103. Im currently useing a kinshaw perception but can only cart load to 100ohm where the creek is set to 1000ohm wich ive read the denon works well.

Thanks jamie

Jamie,

while you may consider it worth a try, if it is the OBH9 then the gain is only 56db and may be a little low, the 9SE has 65db.

Have not had opportunity to compare but rather suspect the Kinshaw is a class or two above the Creeks.

It may be possible to setup the Kinshaw using "T" adaptors and parallel load plugs on the inputs and removing the internal loading jumpers.

Yeah ive heard of these t adapters but have no idea how they work and wouldnt i need a step up transformer then aswell

Since Kinshaw still have a website, why not email them and see if they can suggest something.

If the stage can be run set to MC and 100K but with the load jumpers removed, then the "T" adapter method could be used and no SUT would be required.

That may not be possible however.

If the stage were set to MM and 100K then a SUT of 1:10 ratio, such as the Denon AU300LC would give the 1K load.

While I am one who would recommend that load for the 103, that is when using an electronic headamp rather than a SUT.

There are those who feel higher impedance cartridges such as the 103 are better served by electronics and lower impedance cartridges are better for using a SUT.

Too much info yet ? :D

Yep brain just exploded, kinshaw have only suggested the se upgrade at 250 pound. Ive spoken to someone about just getting the resistors changed so it will go from 100ohm to 1000ohm so i may just end uo going that route
