scuzzii Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 (edited) Folks Have been in Queenstown the last week and been having a ball. Until this trip I had never seen snow so we booked the trip at the beginning of the year. I've now been on the slopes a few times and love it. Though very sore after - good thing there are lots of vineyards around Central Otago for non snow days. Here are some pictures of one day. Unfortunately they have been taken on phone only. Started with a helicopter trip to top of the mountain then over to Gibbston winery where we were met by the tour operator fir rest of the day. Went to several wineries finishing at Amisfield for dinner "trust the chef " degustation. Back at hotel at 930pm. Big day........ View from room Chopper And a few other pics Mrs Bungy jumping Edited July 3, 2015 by scuzzii 7
Cafad Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Looks like you're having a ball there John. Enjoy the holiday! 1
TLL Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Did you have a go at the Bungee Jump?x 2thanks for your sharing, enjoy your trip 1
scuzzii Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 Cheers everyone. We fly out tmrw. It's midday here and just over 3 degrees. No Bungy for me. We were at Chard Farm Winery which is across from the bridge they use for Bungy jumping. After the tasting Mrs had enough courage. It was blowing a gale and freezing so I stayed inside. Not sure why it went to sepia for the shots of Bungy - I couldn't see my phone screen so didn't realise at the time and the wife wasn't doing it a second time 1

We are staying at Crown which is central to everything. If I could afford it I'd stay at Eichardts Private Hotel. I had my first Fergburger today. The line up for this hamburger place is always abt 20 mtrs every time we walked past. We got lucky and got a seat inside at just on 11am. 15 mins later was packed and around the corner... Must do restaurants : Botswana Butchery Pier 19 Captains Table Best so far Rata We are heading to Bunker Room tonight. Pubs: One World bar Pub on wharf Harrys pool hall Bars: Eichardts Bardeux The Winery

Willco Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Is the winery --the one Sam Neill owns? I agree on good days--the area is out of this world-- I've done Ad campaigns/Cars/Ciggies( when Chesterfield was more than a Couch! ) down the other end of the Lake --Glenorchy--Audi and I think Merc had Warehouses for Pre Release vehicle testing / Film shoots/etc there. Used to be quiet place for the Bach-- now it thinks its Aspen under the Southern Cross--with Pricing to match--ha! Sounds like you had great time--! Willco
scuzzii Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) A few more pics walking from Pub on Wharf to Eichardts. Edited July 4, 2015 by scuzzii

Willco Hi WillcoSam Neill owns 2 paddocks (used to be called desert heart wines ) Yes there are some high prices (in town and around the vineyards). They've really moved up the value chain over the past years from what the Tour driver was telling us.
Willco Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Hi Scuz' Ah thank you for the SN info--the Tour Fellow I think was being cautious --from what I'm told by friends that live there fortunes are to be made on them there Hills and Plains Good one! Willco

Andrew S. Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 My wife and I lived there for 6 months in '88 - still one of the best experiences of our life. Love the place and try and get back there every 6 months or so. Really glad you are enjoying yourself John, and thanks for sharing with pictures. Cheers 1
