Hi Guys's,

I usually just use my TV in the living room for casual viewing so happy to just use the inbuilt speakers. However there seems to be an issue when using the Netflix app that the TV sound will only go up to a certain volume regardless of the the volume indicator going up.

Therefore I tried using my 2ch system as the TV's return audio channel is connected to my Audiolab 8200CD DAC via optical. This has always worked perfectly before on the TV's foxtel input, not sure I've ever tried from netflix before but have used the spotify app via the dac, just as a test.

The issue I'm having is that the Audiolab locks on to the signal but I'm getting no sound. Now thinking this through, I can only deduct that the issue is with the DAC. The connections must be okay if the DAC is locking on, and likewise there must also be a signal coming from the TV to lock on to.

This is only my 2nd quasi stand alone DAC so would appreciate any feedback.

Of course the 8200CD is now 16 months old and without checking I assume warranty is only 12 months...

Hi @bylbo

You will need a tv that supports downsampling of the audio signal.

In the TV audio settings there may be an option for "Digital Out' or something along those lines.

If it is set to Dolby Digital, you will need to change it to PCM as the Audiolab won't support DD.

Cheers,

Tarkan.

Doh, of course! Thanks. It was my nephews wedding day and I had 5 relatives from interstate staying with us, so was quite a hectic day and no time for trouble shooting.
