G'day all, yes it is!  Over the last few days I've had two separate Shure M97xE phono cartridges lose a channel through open circuit coils inexplicably!  They were both working fine then suddenly failed.  That is such a drag when that happens.

Although they were both phono cartridges in this case, I've had similar unexpected failures to electronics as well....working one day, then dead the next!  I guess that this is one reason why I favour DIY, because if you built it, you 'should' be able to repair it when it fails, (and I have).  I really have to ask though, why do things occasionally fail and/or stop working suddenly for no apparent reason?!  Regards, Felix.

I've also had my Grace cart drop a channel after magic eraser cleaning of the stylus, only to have it correct itself the next day. Loose connection somewhere which must of been disturbed by cleaning as I checked all leads/wires so that wasn't the cause.
