acg Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) Well, I enjoy Brahms...a lot...and often. I grew up on Radiohead and love them still today...they are stellar live. Then this morning I saw this... http://www.theguardian.com/music/tomserviceblog/2015/jun/24/what-do-you-get-if-you-mix-brahms-with-radiohead I could not resist so I have the headphones on and am working away with this going in the background (it is over an hour long). Well, all I can say so far is that when the vocals come in at about 8 minutes I got goosebumps. But I don't think this would be so successful with modern Radiohead and the samples upon samples syncopated style. Anyone else game for a listen? Or is it just me? soundfan Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) I'm listening now. Not a big fan of classical, and only like a couple of Radiohead albums, but I'm up for anything that might hit my taste buds music wise. Edited June 25, 2015 by soundfan 1
acg Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 For me this is like having one of those irregular dreams but this time with Radiohead popping in and out of my conciousness and for some reason there is a "Sound of Music" overtone to things, which likely comes from the soft and uplifting Brahms influence. Uplifting Brahms versus melancholic Radiohead...it is interesting. I nearly fell out of my chair when at one stage the female vocal (not a problem) started up in a strong American accent (very not Thom Yorke). Well now they just switched into Coldplay and Beethoven...that's interesting.
acg Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 I dont' blame you at all Dave. I listened to the Coldplay/Beethoven and was left a little cold and by comparison the Radiohead/Brahms is much more to my taste. I enjoyed it. I went straight from those videos to listening to the new Thom Yorke album. 1
