ArthurDent Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) Anybody else following this... To Apple, Love Taylor http://taylorswift.tumblr.com/post/122071902085/to-apple-love-taylor "I write this to explain why I’ll be holding back my album, 1989, from the new streaming service, Apple Music. I feel this deserves an explanation because Apple has been and will continue to be one of my best partners in selling music and creating ways for me to connect with my fans. I respect the company and the truly ingenious minds that have created a legacy based on innovation and pushing the right boundaries." But then concert photographer Jason Sheldon thought it was a bit hypocritical... An open response to Taylor Swift's rant against Apple https://junction10.wordpress.com/2015/06/21/those-in-glass-houses-shouldnt-throw-stones/ Response to Taylor Swift's agent https://junction10.wordpress.com/2015/06/24/response-to-taylors-agent/ Edited June 24, 2015 by KenTripp 2
hochopeper Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) Yeah had seen the first two, and some of what was written by Taylor's agent, hadn't yet seen the last link in your post ... will have to give it a read. The best thing that comes from this is that more people (general public) are thinking about and aware of these issues. Edited June 25, 2015 by hochopeper
Guest Muon Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Good on Taylor for doing this, It's obvious she was doing it for all artists and on principle IMO. The photographer and his issue is not relevant, artists should have control over their performances, as should they have some control with the distribution of their music.
ArthurDent Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 I did post it in the Photography section and unlike you I'm not so generous when it comes to Ms Swift's motives.
Gee Emm Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Yes I have been following this. I like that the photographer is sticking to the "nothing for something" discussion. Keeps it simple & is exactly what Ms Swift was complaining about.
Guest Muon Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I did post it in the Photography section and unlike you I'm not so generous when it comes to Ms Swift's motives. Is it that you are a photographer that you lean that way? I'm neither a photographer or musician....so maybe unbiased in this context?
ArthurDent Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 I'm not a photographer but I have experience with musicians and live music performances

hochopeper Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 @@KenTripp OK, differing opinions, nothing new I'll leave this with the shutter bugs now Nar, I'm interested. What do you see as the difference between what Taylor's asked for and what the photographer has asked for?
Guest Muon Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Nar, I'm interested. What do you see as the difference between what Taylor's asked for and what the photographer has asked for? The photographer wants control over her material.... material of her performance, as does Apple with her music along with the music of all other artists. It's her music and performance, so to hell with them both If the photographer wants total control over his work, he should tick to taking pics of flowers and such.
