New Sensations Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Item: KEF X300A Wireless powered speakersLocation: Camperdown NSWPrice: $950 PICK UP ONLYItem Condition: 9.5/10 *AS NEW*Reason for selling: Clearing out cupboard spacePayment Method: Pickup - Cash, bank transferExtra Info: Powered speakers from KEF with their famous Uni-Q coaxial driver array. No master/slave config here - there's a pair of Class A/B amps *and* DAC in each speaker. Can be fed via USB or via Airplay or DLNA over a home network for which wired and wireless connections are possible. There's even a 3.5mm analogue socket for analogue sources. I'm looking at you, turntablists. Switchable EQ settings for desktop or stand placement. Don't be fooled - these will play ball on stands as a main system. It's an entire hifi system in a box. You won't get a better sound for the money. Why am I selling? I love these speakers and I'd keep them but I desperately need the storage space and funds are required to buy a pair of LS50 ($2k+) which make more sense to have kicking around in this reviewer's toolbox.Local RRP is $1600. Available here for 40% off.Photos: 2
JWM Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Hi John, a quick review I read mentioned there being an optional adapter for doing AirPlay wirelessly, does this pair come with it?
zakblue Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Great speakers. If this were in Melbourne i'd snap em up straight away. GLWS 1
New Sensations Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Hi John, a quick review I read mentioned there being an optional adapter for doing AirPlay wirelessly, does this pair come with it? No dongle required here. These do Airplay out of the box.
JWM Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 (edited) No dongle required here. These do Airplay out of the box. Apologies I was looking at a X300A review, not X300A Wireless! Edited June 23, 2015 by JWM
Show Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 How do these perform as surrounds in terms of connectivity? Considering my options for powered surrounds.

New Sensations Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 GLWTS And are you getting the Canton active speakers that you reviewed? Nope - as per the FS text, I'm getting a pair of LS50 in.

Raffinator Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Nope - as per the FS text, I'm getting a pair of LS50 in. Sorry I meant to say getting the Canton speakers as well as the LS50. This was based on your article about the virtues of active speakers and I thought you would still need a pair for gear reviews. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

JWM Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) John was not wrong, these are a phenomenal setup for the money. I set them up along my much more expensive system and it was amazingly competitive. Fantastic to use with AirPlay versus my Yamaha Aventage amp too, which is constantly dropping off the network etc. Edited July 5, 2015 by JWM
