Galactic Soap Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) Item: iFi Retro Stereo 50 Location: Sydney, NSW Price: $1800 $1650 + Postage + Fees ($2199 Retail) $550 saving on new unit Item Condition: 10/10 - As New. Unit is 1 Week Old. Purchased directly from Cam @ Maxmedia Reason for selling: Two Reasons: 1) It's my bookshelf speakers aren't efficient enough (86DB ProAc Tablette Signature Reference 8's) 2) I'm going to building a high end Headfi station in my study Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Apologies about the stock picture. I'll take one of my unit in the coming days when the rain clears. However for all intents and purposes it looks like the one below. It's 1 week old. Positive Feedback Review http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue78/ifi_stereo.htm I purchased this unit a week ago from Cam @ Maxmedia. The plan was to simplify my system in my study. I wanted a High Resolution DAC, A powerful Class A Headphone Amplifier and a speaker amplifier for my bookshelf speakers. iFi sell these units with their take on the Rogers LS3/5A which is rated at an efficiency of 90DB. In truth you’d need a speaker with similar or better traits to get the best out of the speaker amplifier section. My 86DB ProAc’s while playing appropriately loud just didn’t have the dynamics and control I wanted. The Headphone amplifier is an entirely different proposition: 7W out of its single ended 6.3mm output gives this unit the ability to drive any Headphone with ease. I’ve used the unit with Audeze LCD-X’s; LCD-XC’s and Abyss AB1266’s and loved the experience. As a Headphone Amp + DAC this unit is excellent, gorgeously warm and full bodied while having the capacity to play every known PCM/DSD/DXD format that exists i.e. Octa-DSD512 & PCM/768Khz. Throw in: - Bluetooth, Aptx, and NFC for wireless pairing with your smart device - USB & Spdif connections for either computer or spinning disk transports - A reportedly great phono stage This is really a fantastic bit of kit.
