New Album from Mike Zito - Life is Hard.   Absolute ripper.   Produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith.   The backing band basically consists of Joes band.

On guitar and vocals Zito tears it up.    I learnt that his wife of 18 years passed away from Cancer and many tracks are devoted to her memory.

A really rock solid album.

A long time blues favourite of mine is Doug MaCleod and this video, shot in a very tight little venue, showcases how good he is at his craft and what an outstanding guitarist he is too.

This is on my ... 'if you could only take 5 albums to a desert island' list. This was the first of Chris' albums I heard and I now have them all. Just such a gifted and passionate human. If people are looking for this, and even if you have it, and you have a streamer this album is available remastered in 2021 with an extra 8 tracks (double album length) it sounds fantastic.

@Flash great to see copies of Spiderman - saw him do that album live at the Cairns Blues Festival with backing band 'the leatherbacks' I think - flipping AWESOME ... and Short Cool Ones another killer album with Mark Lizotte.

And for DVD fans get yourself a copy of this (still looks to be available) "Live at The Basement" - Chris Wilson, King For A Night

It took me a minute to figure out how you knew I had those other albums, haha. That framing wasn’t by design. ?

Spiderman is so good. His cover of When I Was a Cowboy is absolutely stunning.
Seeing that performance live, must have been brilliant.
I had Short Cool Ones on vinyl. Was a special order. My dear mother gave it away (along with most of my other LPs) when I was working away. She still gets reminded of it regularly! It’s impossible to find now. ?

Yep, got that DVD too. Brilliant.

One of Chris' best - saw him at a Cairns Bluesfest when this was his latest album so he did plenty of it, the guy that played guitar was AWESOME and Miss Laticia was playing bass - very VERY cool

My home grown catalogue only goes to W, but this isn’t a bad way to round out AusMusicMonth.

Eric Clapton - Nothing But The Blues

71cWsvDWe+L._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_.jpg

A documentary containing live performances of Eric Clapton performing 20 blues songs in concert at the Fillmore, San Francisco in 1994, interspersed with comments by Eric Clapton and various vintage clips of blues performers such as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, etc.  and released on blu-ray in 2022 with Martin Scorsese as executive producer.

Packaging is fairly basic with the Blu-Ray placed in a simple light cardboard slip cover. Video quality is maybe not quite as sharp as one would like, but it is acceptable and audio quality is quite good. It is quite moderately priced and the documentary is excellent. Eric Clapton was in fine form during the concert and gives excellent performances. Well worth checking out.
