Monk Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 It's not Sunday night but it is ambient and it is now spinning: Various Artists - Dark Ambient Of 2014 -- an 85 minute continuous mix of ambient works from the Cryo Chamber netlabel. Available for nowt on bandcamp if yer cheap. I wouldn't call this dark; it's not Lustmord, more like some of the shimmering beatless works of Steve Roach. There's also a Dark Ambient Of 2015 compilation available that I will download next ... --Geoff Gave the 2015 one a spin today. Not bad, but yeah, not terribly dark, but was pretty much what I felt like listening to. 1
ThirdDrawerDown Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 I like the way it defaults to flac. 340 MB on its way. If it's any good I'll pay for the 2015 edition. 1

hired goon Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Cousin Silas - Recrudescence --it's Sunday morning, not Sunday night, but I felt like spinning some ambient. This is a lubberly little album of soundscapes, tinkling piano, and guitar, like Eno's "Music For Airports" crossed with Vidna Obmana's "The River Of Appearance". Free lossless download at Bandcamp here. --Geoff 2

ThirdDrawerDown Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 Geoff - don't stop your yoinking! Excellent signposts you provide. meantime, we listen to an old friend I've mentioned here before: wikipedia/allmusic say: Quote The Allmusic review by Stephen Eddins states "Like the first album, this one is suffused with a sense of distant mystery and a profound, powerful melancholy that is given voice with intense feeling. The sound again is spacious and warmly resonant, with an earthy, enveloping ambience. This album will be a must-have for anyone who loved the first one, and it should appeal to any listener with an affinity for meditative Eastern European spirituality, especially when tied to contemporary expressivity and stylistic freedom".[2] 1

Anyway, here's an ambient album that I yoinked earlier, and giving it another spin ce soir: Bing Satellites - Castles In The Sky -- Fluffy pads with occasional tinkling piano. See Currently Yoinking for details. There's a heap of releases by Bing Satellites on Bandcamp that are worth checking out. --Geoff 1
Monk Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 (edited) So it's only Saturday, big whoop. This probably fits in here as well as anywhere, another Aaron Turner collab/project. Do like this track, very laid back. Don't mind the other track they've also previewed. Pity it's only getting a limited vinyl release. Maybe one day I should buy a record player. Actually, listening again, it doesn't really fit at all. Bugger. Edited April 15, 2017 by Monk 1
Monk Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Was listening to the other half of Thalassa, William Fowler Collins' music, and since it is Sunday and also ambient I reckon, this does belong here. Not bad. https://williamfowlercollins.bandcamp.com/album/tenebroso 1
