hired goon Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) Tomoo Kosugi - Sublime Girl -- an album that I've been playing late at night recently, with gentle bell-like notes floating lazily above a bed of some very deep bass (at least with my SGR CX4F speakers, which can reach real low). Noice. "Name yer price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff Edited January 20, 2023 by hired goon 3
cafe67 Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Some tunes from sbs chill which is usually always playing in the car - keeps me sane in Perth traffic and a source of new tunes/bands to check out. 3
cafe67 Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Just ordered these via burning shed - nicely priced even when including postage from uk https://burningshed.com/various-artists_strange-eyed-constellations_bundle?filter_name= constellations &filter_description=true&filter_sub_category=true 2
hired goon Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Andrea Calligaris - Constrained Lives -- a late night listen, described as "a depressing yet hopeful display of ambient works featuring cinematic instrumentation" but has hints of Eno, etc. Noice. US$1 for the lossless download from Bandcamp (or grab a download code here if yer quick). --Geoff 2
hired goon Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Rafael Anton Irisarri - Sacred Variations -- another late night listen, featuring big washes of sound with ghostly guitar and vocals in the background. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff 2
hired goon Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Monasterium Imperi - Trichurch of Katehon -- Slow sombre soundscapes with hints of Gregorian chant. Kinda like listening to an old Enigma album while drifting in and out of consciousness. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff 3
mrbuzzardstubble Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Tujiko Noriko - Crepuscule I & II. 1
hired goon Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Ambalek - Lull -- Latest release from Seil Records label, this album is a collection of short textural tracks, seemingly made up of many intricate loops. Noice. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp for a limited time. --Geoff 1
Guest Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Alva Noto feat. Martin L. Gore (Depeche Mode) & William Basinski - "Subterraneans"
hired goon Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 pustocvét - Comfort Waits Where You Will Seek How To Free A Light For Weeks -- Another late-night ambient album, very low in the mix, with some tracks featuring ghostly far-off piano, and others with mournful strings. Noice. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff 1
ThirdDrawerDown Posted March 5, 2023 Author Posted March 5, 2023 Quote bed of some very deep bass (at least with my SGR CX4F speakers, which can reach real low). I'm building a pile of CDs that test the structure of our home by rattling windows, walls, doors, roof beams, framing... This is to test some forthcoming room tuning using DBX. A track relevant to this thread is Parallax by the Abel Tasmans. Ten minutes of beautiful piano and bass. Architectural feature exhibited by sonic bloom: in this case, windows. 1
ThirdDrawerDown Posted March 19, 2023 Author Posted March 19, 2023 Sunday night. Slow treated piano. Brian Eno - (1998) Music for Prague (Generative Music)- 2 tracks, no motorboats. 2
Monk Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Tuesday is the new Sunday. Played today for some chilled sounds whilst working from home. Hmm, maybe it should be in the drone thread. Well, this or that. Either way, I likey. 岩 by Pool of Light. https://pooloflight.bandcamp.com/album/--5 2
Monk Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Heh, 'tis a Sunday now, and I'm going to post another Pool Of Light song. It's almost got a bit too much going on for ambient, well, it does really. But an eight minute song does not make a soundtrack listening post, so here it goes. https://pooloflight.bandcamp.com/track/flood 2
hired goon Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Volker Lankow & Michael Brückner - Segmented Vision -- an extended piece of synths with tribal percussion, kinda like some of Steve Roach's albums but with more sequencers in the background here and there. Noice. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp for a limited time. --Geoff 2
ThirdDrawerDown Posted May 9, 2023 Author Posted May 9, 2023 Thanks Geoff. I've been keeping an eye out for "Music for...." albums. Your post put me onto: Quote Music For Quiet Environments by Volker Lankow 2
hired goon Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Bing Satellites - A Line Connecting Two Circles -- latest release from Brin Coleman under this moniker, this time featuring live improvisations using guitar, e-bow, and tape loops. The sound, as you expect, gets kinda Frippertronic. Noice. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff 3
metal beat Posted May 23, 2023 Posted May 23, 2023 Chapterhouse Retranslated By Global Communication – Blood Music: Pentamerous Metamorphosis 1

Demand, and prices, were high. One day out of frustration I sent an email to Dedicated Records in the U.K. asking if they had a spare copy that might have fallen down the back of the office couch, and a few weeks later I received a nice little package in the mail containing one highly-sought Global Communication CD in a cardboard sleeve --Geoff 2 1
