Do yourself a big favour and look into Elektra Reference Amps ... Hand built in Melbourne and will not disappoint @ around $4-5 grand.

Edit: assuming it is sound quality you are after, not just a PA System for a rock concert.

I'm trying to avoid niche brands. Been there, done that, and had my wallet burnt in the process.

I can highly recommend Mcintosh.... sounds awesome looks amazing and very reliable. Mc 501's mc 352 mc252 mc 2102tube all live in my system and there staying put!! Many great options though...

Especially American..?

I'd be looking into an accuphase integrated in that price range.. Would kill a krell or Mac just saying..

PS. I owned a Luxman and an Accuphase integrated of similar standing, and in my system I far preferred the lux
