rantan Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Twenty something chicks with F you attitudes, driving pre Cambrian Mitsu Lancers with rear spoiler. Hard to figure if the drivers or the cars are worse, but at least you can take the Lancer to the car crushing place and the chicks do look a lot better. 1
Ars Paart Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Whoever decided that "Not now" or "Later" and suchlike are reasonable substitutes for "No, go away and leave me alone forever" in confirmation dialogues should be buried alive as punishment. There is no future in which I am going to change my mind about allowing some website that I happen to have landed on to send me unwanted notifications or emails or what have you. 1

BLAH BLAH Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Was patiently awaiting my turn to be served at one of those popular Bread shop chains... Beside a fargher and I assume his young son(fargher jnr)...of about seven years... Young female shop assistant politely asks them...and what would you like...?!? Fargher immediately turns to his his young son and asks him...what would he would like... Junior fargher becomes animated like a young puppy...looks at the glass counter, pointing then jumps up and down and yells out I wanna a bacon roll with...with...??!... The young assistant smiles and offers to help him out by asking...the one with the tomato topping?!... Junior fargher yells out even louder...yes I want the bacon roll with the tomato!... I wait till he's quitened down...turn and ask him politely...gee they sound really nice... Junior fargher's animated face does not disagree with me... I then ask him...do they come with a please and thank you... Junior fargher's eyes drop...the facial animation immediately ceases... Suddenly one could hear a pin drop... 2 2

Recommended retail price(RRP) is the price at which the manufacturer suggests the retailers to sell its product. The RRP generally tells all the manufacturing and selling costs associated with a product., yet there seems to be a massive variable in that price, even up to 50% when buying it.. Really Rip People, is the true meaning of paying RRP. More a nuisance for newbies to this hobby. It's life, loads of middlemen needing to take their cut to survive. Retailers, importers, and of course the manufacturers need to cover their advertising, show attendance, and equity/share stakeholders. Those more nuanced have a direct relationship with the importer or with the manufacturer (in some cases). For those without a direct relationship- Never pay retail! Alternatively, buy used. 1

Australia has one of the highest international travelling citizens rates in the World (higher than Americans). Plus, say there's trouble overseas (eg. during the start of 2022 Ukraine war). My American friend got retrieved from Lviv Ukraine in a US C-130 military aircraft. Aussies where told to leave on their own private arrangements. So the passport rip off, plus crap foreign assistance if needed. 1 3

Despite what was in the media about the Prime Minister telling Australians to return to Australia what actually happened is that DFAT wrote to all citizens abroad and instructed them to stay where they are if safe, as international travel was the highest risk. Australia (and the indivdual states) then essentially shut down and you had to apply to return to Australia and it took us 8 applications to get in. We ended up homeless in the UK living in an Air BnB with no certainty around if or when we could get back. DFAT abandoned us, and there was no recourse and no means to appeal anything. We had to book flights (civil) 7 times as you couldn't even apply without flights booked, and 3 of those times I had to book non-refundable fares as it's all I could get. Then when we finally got back we were held in a hotel for 2 weeks and forced to pay for it. I am lucky as I coulf afford it, however all up it cost us over $40k. My wife has still not recovered from the mental and emotional toll the uncertainty took on her and there's no amount of money that can repair that. Meanwhile the UK was running their C17 and other large transports from the RAF nonstop and a number of civil airlines where also flying to bring people home daily, as were almost all European countries. I felt completely abandoned by my country and government and I learned the hard way that an Australian passport and Australian citizenship is worth nothing. Truthfully, the whole experience left me feeling far less connected to my country of birth and I think we were an international embarrassment. We let fear stop us from providing real assistance to our citizens abroad while all like countries were doing the exact opposite. Edited January 17 by POV 2 4

Silver Audiophile Posted January 18 Posted January 18 My main gripe: 1) 47% marginal tax rate 2) AUD/USD cross rate at 0.62 After tax net income in USD 0.33 cents for every AU$1 earned. Lucky country. 1

Not sure where the costs came from , I’ve just checked Canada and UK (as we have both, as well as Australia). UK passport renewal = AUD 200 + associated cost for copies of every page of ALL other passports you hold. + registered post etc… Canadian Passport (10yr) renewal = AUD 200 to be picked up in person in Canada. More if you live overseas. We have 4 of us that have triple citizenship and the costs are considerable when they come up for renewal. A small price to pay for travel documents that allow you to travel many places without having to get lots of visas etc. 1

Lucky country. 46.5% only on income of $180,001 and over. (39.5% $80,001- $180,000) Exchange rate fluctuations go up & down. In 2011 I remember it was 1 to 1 and slightly more. Great time to purchase stuff overseas or go on holiday. Australians have a very good lifestyle and are generally buffered from the extremes of world economic stresses. It’s what you pay for a decent lifestyle.

Living in Australia means nothing, we have no civil rights of any material meaning and your passport is worthless. 2
