Here is a link to make you splutter into your Weet-Bix this morning. Sol Trujillo patting himself on the back for saving Telstra and speaking of the importance of truthfulness

“Always tell the truth. Be forthright and open about the circumstances facing the business – the good, the bad, and the ugly – and say it publicly. In retrospect, it is clear that this was a cultural shock for Telstra and Australia,†he said

Sol Trujillo is astonishingly bad at PR. How do people like him make it to 'leadership' positions.

WPMO is the media. Poor research, portray themselves as bastions of the public right, blatantly driven by headlines, and no accountability. It's a self regulating, lazy industry with an influence beyond its due.

finally logged on to 'my bigpond'. we were welcomed to bigpond on the 25/8 at 3.52pm, by 7.52pm they had sent us an e-mail saying we had reached 50% of our allowance, 11.23 we had reached 75%, 9.51 the next day we had reached 125% and by 7 pm on the 28th we had reached 250% of our allowance and had a bill of $1100!

Terry, so what plan did they put you on to get to max so quickly? Sounds to me they put you on somethign way too small, was it the same as the one you were on before?

Ok my rant-

1. Humans who believe that by driving excessively slowly they are driving 'safely'.

2. Overbearing governance removing our right to use common sense.

3. Standardisation. What's good and right for me isn't necessarily good and right for you!

4.People who tell me "You think.....xyz". I didn't tell them so WTF makes them think they know?

5. Anti-discrimination laws. Let's be a bit extreme. If it is completely illegal to discriminate for fear of legal reprisal then we must employ every applicant for a position.

6. Legal action begun over the most pissweak ridiculous crap. Suck it up humans! The world isn't here for your specific benefit. Sometimes things will happen that you don''t like. Deal with it.

Share price down from $5.06 -> $4.28 and get a salary of over $10m p.a. and get huge bonuses.....

No, Griffo, I reckon Sol is pretty good at PR if he gets away with that...:)

cheers

Hi Leon, the plan they put us on? The one that 'most families use for their monthly internet activities'?

400 mb per month. (guess that's both uploads and downloads)

Honestly fair enough, Lindy has never used the net in her life. She wouldn't know 400 mb from 400 bm. She DID have the sense to take out last bill with aapt with her so the consultant could be able to swap to a similar plan. But the consultant didn't ever ask her what plan we were already on. I guess that assured Lindy somehow that the consultant knew what they were talking about ???(bit hard to grasp, but I can see a bit of internal logic in lindys thinking)

I mean, it's a given that if someone wants to swap they have the unspoken assumption that it is the same deal, it's not like 'I want to change and end up with a worse deal, can you help?' you know?

If Lindy had said 'we have never been on the net and want to start' then yeah, fair enough the consultant says 'ok let's try this plan and see how we go in terms of your usage'.

But as a consultant in the business everyday (it's your job remember) would you not, as a reasonable starting point, at least say 'well what plan are you currently on?' ?????

400mb!! Even if there is such a thing as 'the plan that most families get away with each month' I wonder if that figure would be 400 mb?

But that is not our beef, as I say fair enough we too didn't check the plan we were put on, it was only our assumption that it was the same. It's all the bait and switch and crap and complete dissatisfaction with using the net that ONLY occurred once we had switched. Just then I had a quick glance at the terms and conditions in the welcoming e-mail to us, and yeah in there I can see that we are only on halfprice for six months, and then the 'jump thru this hoop; to get it to nine months, and the 'roll under this' to get to twelve etc.

The consultant couldn't explain fully the plan she recommended to lindy??? Not her job?? Apart from the fact it is written in black and white right here in front of me (under 'your order details')

Monthly payment discount $24.98*12 months (50%)

Bait and switch. Knowing full well that anyone whoi wants to leave get's hit by, or is deterred by, the penalty of early termination.

Heheh, just found our last bill with aapt. 12000MB (12 gb??) @512k, no excess charges for $39/mth.

We are currently paying $59 for 12gb, and to keep it at 512 (after 12 gb I assume) we need to pay another $10/mth, all up $69/mth to equal what we had.

It would be far cheaper to just pay the early exit penalty and go back. But it somehow does not feel right ya know?

What was the last thing Johnny Rotten said as a Pistol?? 'Ever get the feeling you've been taken?' or something similar.

Yeah John, we do.

what jake, you trying to really make me feel bad? and you're not even at bathurst yet before we get into the proper **** stirring.

Or were you enabling us to see what a great deal bigpond offer-400 mb for $49.95/mth?

:D Just trying to help :)

Actually, my point is that there are some good deals out there, and Bigpond or Optus would have to be the absolute last isps I would even look at. They are a joke. Get out now, dont look back, find someone else.

Im with aanet and I see that have even better plans than what I am on, but alas ADSL2 is not yet readily available in Happy Rock.

People who drive in the right hand lane for miles & miles. And they wonder why people are trying to get past them.

People who fail to plan, then try to make it my crisis, then sook like spoilt little girls because I won't drop everything to help them.

Couples/dog walkers who don't keep left on the footpath. They're all over the place like a mad woman's breakfast.

People who think they are better then other people. Ignorant, intolerant ba$tard$.

But the biggy for me is.... men who aren't men.

They look you in the eye, they shake your hand and then back down from what they agreed to do at the last minute; after you have done everything you agreed to do.

Sooky children in mens pants who need to be severly smacked around the head, a lot!

I was going to add intolerance, but then I read what I had just written. :)

People who smoke in the car.....with their child inside. Opening the window is not good enough! And strap that child in, dont let it float around like a missile.

I have nothing but contempt for this behaviour.

It seems to me they misled you and you would have a fair go at getting this solved via their complaints department or Fair Trading. You said you asked for the same plan and showed them the bill. Well there is a huge difference between 500MB and 12GB and they obviously sold you the wrong plan. As a customer you are expecting a level of service and knowledge on their behalf and they simply sold you the wrong thing, no different than buying anything else based on the salesperson recommendations. Take it further!

You obviously listen to the wrong music :)

I find the sound of the exhaust burble adds a certain ambience to "Massive Attack" as i'm blasting along the freeway. :D
