nofixedaddress Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Got it, hate it. I've had it for more years than i can remember, but I have had the Doctor in lately for another reason and the pills he gave me - well!.Oh! the beautiful pills:p PS.Did I tell you about 'the pills'? Hows the back going Grump? Is it fixed yet or are you on the floor typing with the PC hanging from the ceiling? Pills? What pills, don't think you've mentioned those before? NFA
gat474 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Particularly in business, the use of the term "going forward...". e.g. "Going forward, we will create more employment..."Redundant and extremely annoying... cheers 2sheds Mr Sheds, In my field there's a whole lot of those used. "We have to drill down to the facts", "Get some face time on that issue", "Meet off line to speak about that", "Getting traction" and the latest is, "Championing a cause". I'm not even sure that 'championing' is a word.
Andythiing Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 people getting their post numbers up on SNA by having fun arguing over crap!
Drizt Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 people getting their post numbers up on SNA by having fun arguing over crap! I think we should ask the mods to remove post numbers all together. Perhaps have a less than 100 or greater than 100 posts sign under our names. I wouldn't care if someone set my post count back to zero.
joz Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 people getting their post numbers up on SNA by having fun arguing over crap! Listen Andy I havn't got time to argue your poin t atm,I'm busy over at the other 2 threads.. :D

gat474 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I think the idea of removing the number of posts is 'getting some traction'. Maybe someone could 'champion the idea' and we can 'move forward on the matter'. We need to 'drill down' past the surface issues and get to the crux of the matter. I might do some research 'off line' and maybe get some 'face time' with a couple of SNA members to 'workshop' some ideas.
joz Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Hey these dont count as posts do they Yep that pisses me off too..

Ill even volunteer to have a negative number of posts if that pleases the court

Believe it or not (for such a garalous poster :o) I made a reputation for getting to the heart of the matter I went back to a coffee shop recently in my old stomping ground. I nearly pissed myself after observing a couple of young sales execs. They had the Armani suits, the latest Blackberry's, Tag Heuers, etc and used every buzz term in the book. It would have impressed many. When I cut away the buzz words and padding there was nothing left at all - zip, nada, zero. I laughed out loud, but these guys will probably make their targets and get bonuses this year cheers 2sheds

Only over the past 10 years or so the incidence of using buzz words and terms has certainly increased in proportion to how hard the users were trying to scramble their ways to the top. Our headquarters building is sometimes knows as the Marihuana Tower - the harder you suck the higher you get.
