What are everyone's thoughts about the new Toyota/BMW collaboration ? I think it looks amazing but it is an odd pairing between manufacturers in terms of prestige.next-gen-toyota-supra-rendering-mt-water

I liked the original supra from the 90s, but not a fan of toyota styling of late, or the bmw z4 but never know this might be a turn in the right direction :)

Quick tangent, I am surprised I have not heard any loud pipes yet on an 86. The WRX's sure sound OK when upsetting the policemans and the hand wringers.

Carry on.

Really ? Damn... I really wish Toyota would hurry up and stick a turbo on the 86, because without one it just seems to....normal

86's with exhausts sound different than the average 4 banger (due to the boxer configuration) but lack the deep throb of turbocharged Subies. The reason is the header design. The turbo models have unequal length headers, whilst the NA models are largely equal length.

When you throw a set of aftermarket equal length headers on a turbo Subaru, the change in exhaust note (and the absence of the throb) is quite incredible.

shame the new WRX with its direct injected motor and low mount twin scroll turbo has lost the note...sounds like crap now.

the STI at least with the same old 2.5 ltr has retained it.

I'll take the increased throttle response and reduction in both spool and lag over a change in engine note everyday!

Probably because increasing the size and flow of the exhaust will cause a drop in torque down low (moving the power band further up the rev range) in its' 4 pot NA engine. One will have to rev the **** out of the engine to get it going with a larger exhaust thus affecting day to day driving.
