brockot Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi, another request for pointers if I may Picked up a Creek integrated (had a Creek itch for yonks) and it prompts me to consider a sub sat setup. Currently using Primare I22 into some Canton Ergo floorstanders which used to really breath and motor when I had them in a much larger room but house move now sees me in a 3.5m X 4.5m room and placement limitations seem to hinder performance. I thinking of wall mounting some SMs to pair up to the Creek with a view to a sub later on if necessary. Music for me goes from Grimethorpe Brass to Paul Potts to Kraftwerk to Kliesza to Natalie Merchant if that helps. Looking for suggestions and tips bearing in mind the Gold Coast is very limited in terms of demo opportunities. Looking very much at 2nd hand market and pref under $1k Thanks all.
keyboardman_uk Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi there. I can highly recommend any Epos speaker as being good with that amp. If possible avoid sats, you can do fine with a small speaker in that size of room. I would say M5 would be just the ticket. There are other small speakers out there that will do just fine too. With a little more room, even M12 or small Epic will sound great, better not on a bookshelf of course, but you do what you can. Good luck with the search, those options keep you right on budget, but I'm sure a flood of good suggestions are about to come your way. Where did you get the Creek? Damn fine amp! Cheers. 1
Gordon Macfarlane Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Second the Epos recco ,subject to personal audition with your amp. The speakers and amp are made by the same company so there should be synergy but listen for yourself.

Not specifically looking for sats, just my shorthand for a sub / not-floorstander set up that would fit better in the room, anything suitable for wall-mounting will do. Picked up the amp from Epoz. Epos are definitely on the list, seem to remember reding good things about the M5 I think. Thanks gents. 1
JohnL Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi, A few years back I was visiting Whatmough and Colin had the Creek 5350SE there. He believed it matched very well with his speakers. This came up in chatting and was NOT just a sales pitch. Cheers, JohnL
brockot Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) Hi, A few years back I was visiting Whatmough and Colin had the Creek 5350SE there. He believed it matched very well with his speakers. This came up in chatting and was NOT just a sales pitch. Cheers, JohnL Only heard of Whatmough here but they do seem, as was Colin Whatmough, to be very highly regarded. I have never seen or heard them and don't see them come up for sale that often but do remember seeing some bigger sized standmounts that would be pretty much what I'm after. Thanks JohnL. shailesh Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 3rd the Epos suggestion ; The Epic series and older ES14 / ES11 should match well and within your budget.

Hi Brockot, If interested speak to Steve at Whatmough now the new manager. Very knowledgable and easy going nature, who's actually a personal friend I met from the local gym and whos dad managed Norlec back in the 70's and 80's. Don't know where you can audition Whatmough's in QLD though.
brockot Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Demo-ing speakers around here is really difficult so it is going to be a case of suck it and see which is why this site and all you generous contributors are invaluable to me. Thanks. On this topic but a bit to the side, where are all the larger standmounts? Anyone making them anymore?
