Hi folks -

I will be sending a cartridge at some stage for retipping and need a box to secure the cartridge in.

Any ideas as to where to source one from?  I have searched without success.

Thanks

Hi mate

I use this Ortofon case available from Speakerbits.

I bought mine from their eBay store which includes lots of extras for $55. Much cheaper option from their eBay store compared to their own website

I am sure other DJ sites will have these. Just happens to be where I got mine from.

You will need a headsheel to mount it in. If you don't have one hopefully you can borrow one, or some carts actually come mounted on a plastic headshell which someone may have lying around.

Hope the re tip goes well.

BTW. I note you are in NSW. If you are in Sydney you can borrow mine. I have not used it for ages.

Why not just use a small Tupperware type container and drill a couple of holes in the bottom to take a cartridge screw. Secure the cartridge inside the container, put the lid on, tape up, post off.

Wish Soundsmith would put arrows on there stylus boxes so you know which end opens......usually takes me a while to work it out.

Fold a business card into thirds across the length and fold into a triangular hollow prism shape.

If the cartridge has a stylus guard, fit it.

Close the triangular tube with adhesive tape and slide cartridge inside and tape over the ends.

Place the whole thing bubblewrapped into a travel soap box or similar small rigid plastic container.

Do not lash up some thing that is bound to fail, use the correct item designed for the job, it can be easily damaged in the mail.

W - I can loan you one if you need, let me know.

Thanks Cameron!  - very generous as always - I'll get in touch before I send!

Remember these? Would it fit?

Interesting idea Jake - Would work well to protect the body but cantilever protection would probably be an issue.
