A quick story about my week :-)

I had been running the same cheap HTIB setup for 17 years consisting of 5 crappy Welling speakers and 2 Jaycar 12" subs. The amp blew in one of the subs so I rewired the working one to put out a heap of power at 4 ohms. I replaced the receiver whenever funds allowed and am currently running a Sony receiver (again, cheap). The other day on gumtree I saw an ad for an old Boston Acoustic THX setup with an old Technics receiver.

Well I bought them, and wow.

For $200 I am blown away.

I remember helping a fellow forum member put together his VAFs a long time ago, and missing the bottom end because we were used to too much bass, well yeah, I have that feeling again, and being a bit older (lot older) I appreciate why. They towers (VR35s) sound great, and the matching centre channel (VR14) is amazing. I am re-watching Lost on Bluray right now, and the clarity of this speaker, holy jeebus! It also came with matching dipole rears (VRS-Pros),which I have been wanting for years, and an active matching 12" sub (VR2000) too so I am super happy.

I am moving into a smaller house for the next few months so I only had 2 days to listen and now they need to go in storage until I move again to a place that I can set them up. :-(

I want a new AV receiver now though, want to be able to Bi-Amp and run more power to them in general. They feel like they need it.

The amp that came with the package is an old Technics SA-TX50 which is super powerful, and looks the part with VU meters on the front. I'm using it to power the Sonabs at my girlfriends house right now, and running the Jaycar sub to compliment them and I don't want to go to bed due to the aural pleasure going on right now. These speakers are different, very spacious and airy. I think I am going to stick with this as a second room listening setup when I move.

Now to Jump on this turntable thing and see how hooked I can get haha.
