MKSOUND_HT Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Hey all, I'm looking for some advice. I am mounting a 92" LP Morgan Projection screen onto a wall that has a window nearly in the exact spot that I want to put the screen. I can't use the original mount that comes with the projection screen as it requires it to be positioned in the middle of the room, but I have the window in the way. I was wondering if I could mount 2 brackets on either side of the window and 2 spacers to hold it away from the wall) at the bottom. I am presuming that there is a stud all the way around the window, but I will need to space out the bracket enough to clear the window frame and the curtains (around 2-3 cm). This is a picture of the left hand side (the screen is pretty much exact in the middle, but shows how much the screen hangs over the window frame on each side. I am presuming the screen weighs about 16kg or so, this would mean that each bracket would be holding about 8kg each. The factory bracket uses a little Lip U bracket that allows the screen to hang off, I am trying to replace that but in a bracket thats only 2-3cm wide. Just wondering what sort of ideas I can use to mount the screen. Thanks
ArthurDent Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Have you considered hanging it from the ceiling?
MKSOUND_HT Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 Good point that could work quite well. I must admit though I have never made hooks before like that. I am in a rented property so would have to check with the landlord what would be ok. I have permission to run brackets off the wall so far. Thanks
automated Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 If you didn't want to damage the walls at all you could put 3 of these on each side http://www.commandbrand.com.au/wps/portal/3M/en_AU/APACCommand/Home/Products/Catalog/~/Command-Jumbo-Hook-17004-ANZ?N=3294773687+3294529197+5924736&rt=rud
Newman Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Eek, I'm not that brave. My screen is in front of a window so I made a stand for it.
