danter
I remember reading about these some time ago where they received some very favourable reviews. Now on ebay at $759 + $48 postage... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LS3-5A-monitors-/261549290258?pt=AU_Hi_Fi_Speakers&hash=item3ce58d7312&_uhb=1 Has anybody actually heard a pair, either in a comparison or stand alone? New Sensations
It's almost worth you taking a punt at that price.

Gordon Macfarlane
Yep. Ho-hum. You really don't seem to like much UK hi-fi of that era Trevor? Edited August 1, 2014 by Ozcall
Zaphod Beeblebrox
You really don't seem to like much UK hi-fi of that era Trevor? Not so. The LS3/5A is, possibly, the most over-rated speaker of all time. FWIW: I absolutely love Quad ESL57 & 63s, many of the early Mordant Short speakers, some B&W models (see if you can locate a pair of DM7s, recapped - astonishingly good speakers), some KEF models and quite a few others. The LS3/5A was warm, woolly, poor to average imaging and no with no bass to speak of. Very over-rated, but easy to drive. Andrew S.
The LS3/5A was warm, woolly, poor to average imaging and no with no bass to speak of. Very over-rated, but easy to drive. I disagree. That has not been my experience. My ears and gears though...

D1C
All the reviews I have read of the knock off LS3/5A clones (there's 4-5 different ones around) conclude along these lines. You get what you pay for Not thrilling but not offensive either. If you don't fancy shelling out for the Spender or Harbeth, but want the next best thing for a third of the price, worth a crack. That about sums, most reviews. No personal experience sorry. If your in Melbourne, audiophile in Fitzroy were stocking a lot of "knock off" classic design stuff including the LS3 /5A
