progladyte Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) Good luck with this project. As early Genesis has been my favourite music for many decades, I would really like to see this project grow legs and succeed on many levels. Trying to emulate the Peter Gabriel voice is a tough call and has only been done successfully by a small number of bands. The best by a country mile is the incredible Italian band called "The Watch" whose lead singer, Simone Rossetti has nailed the Gabriel voice pretty well. Their best album from 2004 is called "Vacuum" and features some incredible music in a strong Genesis vein but stands really well on its own. Please don't let that stop your band though as I'm sure most Australian's would be totally unfamiliar with The Watch. Good luck with your search and great to see someone is keeping their legendary sound alive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpX5Ijs7lUs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4FzaqLjUVg Edited August 7, 2014 by progladyte
ZEN MISTER Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Might I add, for players with enough craft to emulate early GENESIS, you probably need to consider writing your own material, sooner rather than later. Original PROG is thin on the ground in Oz, and there is definitely an audience for it. Good luck with venture. ZM.
Number 9 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 A band named "The Watch" who can't play in time? Interesting.................

Thanks Zen, Actually we all write ( I think ) but our musical tastes vary so much that Genesis is probably the only "style" that we agree on for the time being. I like the idea though...slipping the odd original in. Just need a bloody singer!
