Item: Audio GD ref 5

Location: Perth.

Price: EOI around $700

Item condition: excellent, no imperfections that I can see. It performs flawlessly.

Reason for selling: times are tough need the money.

Payment method: cash, bank deposit etc

Extra info: have had this for a little while now, it replaced a Dac 19. Much better performer than the 19. There has been a lot written about this dac and I pretty agree with what's been written. It has a certain rightness to the sound. I really don't want to sell but unfortunately I'm forced too.

Thanks for posting that up mate. Pretty spot on review I think. Balanced does sound better, I experimented with both.

Cheers Dave.

Yep - he says if you're not using balanced you may as well just get the DAC19 - no different. Fantastic DAC these are for the money. Miss mine. :(

I've owned both the DAC19 and the Ref 5 and there is a noticeable improvement with the Ref 5 via the single ended outputs IMHO. The extra PCM1704UK chips and the more sophisticated power supply is to thank for this methinks.

Cracking DAC... but a month or two too early for me :(

Hi atsq,

I'm not sure to be honest. From what I understand this is one of the first versions of this dac.

Cheers Dave.

Hey Andy

Can I suggest that you send the seller a PM regarding offers? That way it provides an email alert as well as keeping negotiations confidential.

Good call. I think I was a bit absent minded earlier. I thought I PMed! :P
