colinm1 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) JUST POSTED ON LONNIE LEE'S FACEBOOK PAGE JOHNNY WAS A BIG AUSSIE POP STAR OF THE 1950'S 60'S So very sad to hear that Johnny Rebb has passed away. Truly one of the original stars of Rock'n'Roll in Australia. A massive heart attack took this legend from us. Love and sympathy to his family, friends and fans. In my new show, 'The Roots of Aussie Rock', I sing his classic 'Hey Sheriff. Now joining the other departed stars I tribute in this show, Johnny O'Keefe, Dig Richards, Noel Widerberg from the original Delltones. Very sad indeed Edited July 29, 2014 by colinm1 1

colinm1 Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 RIP Pioneering Aussie rocker Johnny Rebb (b. John Dellbridge) who, according to Lonnie Lee, has died from a massive heart attack on the 26/06/14 aged 79. Johnny enjoyed a dozen hits with his band The Rebels between 1958 & 1963 before fronting The Atlantics for some of the toughest & now most prized garage singles of the mid to late 60's. Rebb's biggest hit was "Pathway to Paradise" in 1959, & other hits included "Bluebirds Over The Mountain", "Highway Of Love" & "Think Me A Kiss". But after a one-off single for EMI in 1958 (Rebel Rock) he joined Leedon the same year & the hits started with this Sydney/Brisbane Top 20 classic "Hey Sherriff" Another very sad day for Aussie Rock 2
mickj1 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Sad loss - I remember his Hey Sheriff as one of the great early Oz rock songs - it even made the juke box at our local milk bar! Cheers Mick 1
