Since changing the cartridge on my Rega P3-24 from the Elys2 to the Ortofon Blue 2M I had noticed a faint hum/buzz emitting from the speakers.

After some hours spent googling, it became apparent the issue was the grounding of the Rega TTPSU.

The simple solution was to make a grounding loop from the TTPSU to the grounding post of my Lehmann Black Cube phono.

First thing was to find the appropriate earthing spot on the TTPSU using a spade connector. This was at the left screw at the rear of the unit as you look at it. So the opposite side to the power connector.

Next just attach the other end of the wire (red wire in pic) to the grounding post of the Black Cube.

Perfect, total silence.

I hope so Geoff, 1 thing I forgot to mention is not to unscrew the screw on the back of the TTPSU too far, only just enough to slide a spade connector under it before re tightening.

The reason is that screw runs the length of the chassis, and at the other end (front) of the TTPSU it secures the internal ground wire that is connected to the circuit board.

Thanks for the link illusion, I'm still undecided whether to spend the extra $400 for the seperate unit

I appreciate this is an old thread, however I just noticed the same issue with my setup.

Ground wire installed, noise floor all but gone, music more musical :)

Now I just have to deal with the silly buzz coming from the TTPSU wall wart. Any ideas as to a good replacement option?

plenty of us have had the same issue -

I own the linear PSU @ppaul has linked to (albeit I have the SE edition); and it has a very quite audible transformer hum but a lot quieter than the wall wart.
