ITEM: NIKON D90 WITH 35 - 80 AND 80 TO 200 ZOOM LENSES

LOCATION: MOONEE PONDS

CONDITION; VERY GOOD

REASON FOR SELLING: UPGRADED TO D7100

PRICE $350

PICS: ATTACHED

I bought this D90 body at about this time last year. I bought it off the original owner, a student from Japan who'd bought it for some school project and some other stuff but didn't know how to use it. The lenses didn't come with it, it's a long story but I started with the lenses and bought the body. When I bought the body it had around 4000 pics on the clock, now it's got 9877 which according to all the Nikon blurb is around a tenth of the shutter mechanism life.

I've been using it with some other VR lenses which I bought separately so I'll be keeping the VR lenses. The two lenses included are not the VR type and require the in camera focus motor which the D90 has being a prosumer model. In fact just about every Nikon lens will work with the D90 except from some really old ones.

I've had a ball with the D90. I upgraded from a Canon G11 point and shoot and although I really liked and still do like the Canon the D90 is better in every respect apart from convenient size.

I've used the D90 with an 18 - 55, 18 - 105, 55 - 300, 35 prime and a 50 prime and it gives terrific results with any of them and in particular the prime lenses. The two included lenses are probably worth $150 for the two so I'm sort of throwing them in for the deal. I actually like using the lenses too, the Nikon D90 internal focus motor is pretty cool to hear working and although not silent like the later lenses seems to work just as fast. For every day photography there wasn't any difference between these and the VR lenses. The big step up is in the little 35 and 50 mm primes which I'd recommend anyone getting for around $200 second hand for the 35 and less than half that for the 50. Once you get these lenses it's hard to get them off the camera.

My D90 is in very good condition. It has a very small mark on the bottom of the body which I have included in a pic. It was like this when I got it so don't know how it happened. Clearly had no effect as I've taken nearly 6000 pics with this and the camera doesn't have any issues what so every.

The lenses are in great condition but don't come with caps. I didn't get them in the first place and as they were only used for a week or so they sat in a box I didn't bother chasing any up.

I have noticed that there are two hot pixels in images but that's only on zooming up to about 200 per cent. Apparently just about all digital cameras have a hot pixel or two and they are mostly apparently at high ISO whcih I don't tend to use any way. Do some research on hot pixels your self. I don't bother looking for them now as they can't be seen unless you really really look for them and you wouldn't know unless I told you they were there.

I can post he camera but would prefer local pick up so you can try it all out.

It comes with the manual, charger, one battery, USB cable, Nikon softward disc and some A/V cables.

I've compared this camera directly to a later model D5100 and was satisfied that the D90 gave a more satisfactory result across the board. Pictures had more life to them, a bit like vinyl. It's not as good as the D7100 but at three times the price the D7100 isn't three times better either.

I have heaps of pics of the camera and taken by the camera so PM me your email address and I'll forward some.

If I hadn't already upgraded our camera I would have probably looked at this.

We borrowed our son's D90 a few years ago when we toured NZ and came back with some incredible shots thanks in the most part to this camera's excellent features and abilities.

We bought a new Nikon in 2011 when we did USA and also just bought a Tamron 70-300 lens earlier this year so have no need for the extra one.

I have just been attending some free photo lessons at the local mens shed and noticed that some of the members don't have a DSLR camera, just a simple point and shoot.

If it's OK with you I can circulate an e-mail to these members to see if they are interested in making contact with you. Any negotiations would naturally exclude me.

Cheers

Yeah, sure. I was going to put it eBay. The bodies alone bring $400 or so but I'd prefer to sell it to someone associated with sna. Actually I'd prefer to keep it but the bank account is waiting for the money I spent on the new camera.

It's a great learning camera. Took me back to my old manual camera film days and made me think about what I was shooting rather than just banging away.

Sorry about that prog. I couldn't refuse a confirmed sale.

No worries Glen.

It's not as if any of the prospective people I canvassed on your behalf would have had the money anyway.

Most of the octogenarians that visit the mens shed are prolly on pensions anyway so you might have needed a lay by plan for them to act.

As you said, a sale is a sail.....

It's a good score by Alan!

Which brand?

Nikon / Tamron / Sigma

Nikon 35 mm f1.8g. There's always a few on gumtree. I bought one for myself and the one for my dad both from gumtree. Always inspect goods for sale on gumtree and you should usually be right.

Another great lens is the 50mm f1.8d or a later g version but the d version needs a focus motor built in the camera but not so the g version. D version can be less than a hundred bucks.

I took out my 18 - 105 lens today and left my prime lenses at home. I won't be doing that again!

Thanks for the heads up. If I can snag one for a few pesos I'll let you know.
