leho8808
Hello all, I am having pair of infinity Detal 40 now I want to upgrade to a better (hopefully better) pair of speaker. I have 3 options as shown below. Please advice me what should I should pick. BTW I have rotel system (preamp, power amp and CD player) $650: Krix lyrix $550: Sonique Audio 5.5 SE $600: SEAS 21 cm aluminium cone bass unit, with passive radiator. ALPAIR 10 alloy cone full-range unit running as mid, 200 - 2000 Hz. AURA titanium dome tweeter. 90 cm high. Custom designed by professional engineer (sorry not me). Will equal most top speakers for accurate reproduction Thanks Edited July 24, 2014 by leho8808
~Spyne~
Not sure how you can make the DIYs for that money....the Seas L22s are $100ea, Alpairs $150ea, unsure on tweeters but once you add it all together plus xover parts, timber, hardware and finishing materials....bit more than $600 I would have thought. For enjoyment, I'd DIY. Though I'd probably go with SB Acoustics drivers as they're a bit more affordable but great performers and are pretty readily available locally. For a simple end result, the Sonique's would be my choice. If needed, Lyrix replacement drivers are very hard to come by (were discontinued, hence why Krix stopped producing the Lyrix/Lyrix Gold). The Sonique's are SEAS/Vifa which should be easier to source/replace.
blakey72
I had a pair of Sonique 5.5's with Rotel gear and it was very nice. They would be my pick. Sonique hit well above thier weight.
