Think I will just sit back and listen now

Recommended Posts

Well folks this has been a hoot of a week - within a week I have auditioned, then purchased and then setup a very pretty acquisition that Zipstartcanoe had in the classifieds.

Yes a very gorgeous looking, awesome sounding Once Analogue TT with Ducs Univector Arm and a an Ortofon Cadenza Black Cart.  Last night, I picked up some additional interconnects from James at Soundlabs, so I could connect up a Slee Elevator and Slee Phono Stage that I picked up from Keith at Vinyleye this morning.  I must say this community of ours is awesome - every individual I have dealt with is passionate about this pursuit, personable and easy to get along with!

For those of you who have been following me you will know this is connected up to a Pair of Vaf i66's, via a Luxman 550AX which is also fed by an Arcam FMJ CD37 and sits in a room that is a little small but acoustically treated to compensate, there are now too many brands of interconnects to mention hehe.

I need to stop and listen for a few hundred hours at least now and preferably thousands because my mortgage has grown enough hehe.

Some pics are below but when I eventually have a GTG I will get someone with a decent camera to do the honours for me - the iphone found a piano finish black polished TT with stainless steel platter etc way too challenging sorry.  I also wanted to avoid the flash because of the all of the possible reflections and as you can see natural light would have back lit it way too much.  I dont pretend to be a photographer - but I am now at least not pretending to be an audiophile of sorts!

I will post some more impressions of it all once it has all had a chance to run in but at this point in time I will say 'bury me with my records' as they are as close to nirvana I have got to date!

A few shots of the TT.

The Slee Gear and Controller for the TT.

The whole shebang!

Looks like a nice setup there if I squint my eyes Martin - the travesty of an ultra expensive high end rig immortalized with a grainy vaseline smeared effect!.  :(

Photographic equivalent of using $5 leads from your T/T

Have a good mind to come over with my Nikon and reveal a tad more clarity for all to see while admonishing you some more while listening to your rig!  :D

P.S. enjoy your new sound!

You're welcome anytime Clive! - I only have the iphone for pics at the moment.

I'd like to thank Martin for his invitation to journey up to Craigieburn yesterday afternoon, to have a listen to his system. It was a pleasure to meet Lidwina [hope that is the correct spelling?] too................and you both have a lovely home indeed, as is your dedicated music room too and the pics above don't do it justice.

Your system is sounding very good indeed and it is nice to see this finally taking shape after the journey you've had. I'm sure you're going to have many really enjoyable hours in that room, as it is a really nice space to listen to music. I know we listened to mostly vinyl, but the few well recorded tracks on CD sounded pretty darn good too, I must say! Thanks again for three very enjoyable hours, Martin and I'm looking forward to when you hold that first GTG too. :thumb:

I took a few pics that may have come out a bit better than your iphone pics above, so I'll post some of them here.

Thanks Keith,

It was awesome having you as a guest in our home and your opinion of the results of my recent 9 months of obsessiveness is valued more than you will ever know!

Cheers Martin.

I build all my own gear and build a hell of a lot of it but my listening hours way out-weigh my building hours. To me that's why I do it, to enjoy it, to listen.

I don't share your skill set but yes agree listening and appreciating is the real joy of this pursuit!

I am sure we could all help you spend your money ;).

I worked out how much I have spent to get this far it's worth more than the car I bought only 18 months back refer to my avatar!

How long have you been a member here??

Probably would qualify in the the top 10 of meteoric audio expenders club! ;)

I got the upgraditus bad last November after getting a bonus at work. Went to the Audio show at the Rialto and nodded in the direction of the Vafs! That is when I joined this band a vagabonds!
