Orpheus Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Found this on the Herald web-site; http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/tuneless-britney-spears-busted-rehearsing-without-autotune-20140709-zt0w9.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhrS82KEBcw It is remarkably bad. It is also a terrific advertisement for auto-tune. 1
mrbuzzardstubble Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I suspect there are many more than just her.Take your pick from the singles charts. Most of them are auto tuned and/or vocoded. Radio fodder has really nosedived in the last 20 years

ArthurDent Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Slow news day on SMH and SNA Must be. Producer William Orbits comments, anyone read them. 1
Squirt758 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I feel sorry for the audio engineers she was 'helping'. That was porridge... After watching the Muscle Shoals documentary and then seeing this, it's Alien alright... 1
Orpheus Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 Doesn't she always sound like this? If she always sounded like that, her songs would not be released.
Volunteer sir sanders zingmore Posted July 9, 2014 Volunteer Posted July 9, 2014 How did she get to be a star if she can't sing ? I mean what was it that made someone say "this one, this one who can't sing, let's select her and make her famous"
mrbuzzardstubble Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 How did she get to be a star if she can't sing ? I mean what was it that made someone say "this one, this one who can't sing, let's select her and make her famous" A 17 year old with a tidy midriff, pigtails, dressed in a school uniform might have had something to do with it.It's not about the music nowadays. It's pecs and booty. 2

I mean what was it that made someone say "this one, this one who can't sing, let's select her and make her famous" Em Eye Cee Kay Eee Why Em Oh You Ess Eee! She had profile as a Disney talent from a young age so she went to the head of the line when the machine wanted another pop princess to make them some cold hard cashola! She was a safer business decision than punting on some unknown... 1
Kaynin Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 How did she get to be a star if she can't sing ? She probably turns other tricks...

Oh, if that really is her, it sounds like she is singing with a bad head cold. geez, is she really that rough? is what you call raw talent Ha ha Edited July 9, 2014 by Demondes 1
Pieface Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Jeez those are some big numbers Ken. Frightening really
Orpheus Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 Oh, if that really is her, it sounds like she is singing with a bad head cold. geez, is she really that rough? is what you call raw talent Ha ha Even with a head cold, it would be possible to hold a note. She cannot sing in tune. She can not maintain tone or pitch through a note. She has no phrasing. Basically, she can't do anything. I'm not really familiar with her music, but I assume that by the time they've processed the hell out of it, that although nothing of great character emerges, at least it sounds credible.
mrbuzzardstubble Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 If you have the misfortune to hear any of the chart singles, pretty well all of them have their voices treated or vocoded. It makes you wonder if any of these acts actually sing when performing live.I wouldn't be surprised if most of them just mime their songs.Didn't Whitney Houston do that when she toured here a few years ago?
mrbuzzardstubble Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 By the way,can you buy those auto tune devices for home use.I've always wanted to sing Delilah like Tom Jones but can't seem to nail it 1
metal beat Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) Must be. Producer William Orbits comments, anyone read them. Nobody reads or listens past the first line. Reading all these comments sounds like a bunch of old pharts with no idea. Like her or not, Brittney has been singing professionally and in public since she was 8 in the Mickey Mouse club. If you listened to Meatloaf at the AFL grand final you would also say he cannot sing. That we no is not true. Edited July 9, 2014 by metal beat
Willco Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Ho Hum--I've worked on Live to Air TV Pop Shows I'd say 80% of the so called "Big" names are frankly hopeless singing live without the security blanket of the production tricks/enhancement What ever happened to the "Aphex Aural Exciter" for instance? Britney ain't the only acceptor of divine help--just look at Lizzie Grant--AKA Lana Del Ray for over produced no voice Tripe! Willco 4
mrbuzzardstubble Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 (edited) Wonderful stuff,Dirtyvinylpusher.Reminds me of my last visit to a shopping centre. The one redeeming factor of all this tripe,is 30 seconds after the song ends, you can't remember the tune. These songs don't have any memorable lyrics, hooks or chorus, unless its Daft Punk. The musical equivalent of waterboarding. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9MszVE7aR4&feature=youtube_gdata_player Edited July 10, 2014 by mrbuzzardstubble
