Does anyone in or near Melbourne have an Apple TV I can borrow? I'm looking for a device to help stream movies from my NAS without the file skipping. The videos play perfectly on my PS3 - but not on my Sony blu ray player (maybe it's about processing power?). Keen to see if the Apple TV works. I had hoped to find a blu ray player that supported Gigabit networks, but I can't seem to find one.

Hi juice what are you going use software wise to stream from the nas, plex or something similar ?

That'd be great! Does it still play 1080p stuff (and just downscale tp 720p)?

downscales.

the beauty wiht the atv is it spools up so you hopefully dont see any drop outs either. we use our two atvs, main system & bedroom system and they just feed off itunes on our macbooks. it will also work off airplay display or off ipads/iphones etc. so quite a versatile thing. not sure what planning to do with regards the nas drive but am sure will work fine. look forward to reading how it goes though :)

huh - do i have to use software? I just assumed I could enable my Nas's iTunes server and send the content from NAS to Apple TV....

That may work depending on how compliant the iTunes server is.  I'd be surprised if it did work for  video though.

I don't quite get what you want to try here.

There is a NAS with videos on it, it plays nicely on the PS3, but not the Blu Ray, so you want to....?

*I have an Apple TV lying around so happy to help out.
