illusion Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Another french classic is The Wages of Fear, brilliant movie. 3
oldrose Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Scarface Muni, not Pacino's. Al's doesn't count as old as it was made in my lifetime..
brumby Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 If "old" is movies made before you were born, I have to leave out everything made from the 1950s to date. Lots of good "old" movies made in the 1940s, though. I'll leave out the perennials - Casablanca, Citizen Kane, African Queen etc. The Great Dictator 1
shaky Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Jason and The Argonauts (1963). Complete with stop motion special effects by Ray Harryhausen. A favorite from when I was a young boy. 1
brumby Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Ah yes. The swordfight with the skeletons was a highlight. Harryhausen was also involved with the Seventh Voyage Of Sinbad in 1958.
Saxon Hall Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I could nominate dozens but I will just nominate one which gets very little notice. Kiss Me Deadly from 1955
Brenda Eagles Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 The Searcher's , One of John Wayne's best and the Blu Ray is beautiful Dark Passage Bogart and Bacall my favorite of them together 2
keyse1 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 The Coen Bros debut effort. Great film from 1984. Now that is a great movieWho would have thought they would have have gone on to bigger and just as good things
keyse1 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I like cowboy movies Almost any with Randolph Scott and Audie Murphy All the John Ford westerns with John Wayne She wore a yellow Ribbon Fort Apache and The Horse Soldiers especially The Searchers which was remade as Star Wars High Noon and most of the others with Gary Cooper All the James Stewart westerns The Alamo with John Wayne was seriously bad but I liked it
keyse1 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) Is 40 years ago old because the 70's were when most of the really great American movies were made My favourite movie of all time is the Godfather part 1 and 2 taken as a whole or separately And next up Apocalypse Now All directed by Francis Ford Capolla It was the decade when Pacino De Niro and Nicholson were truly great actors before they became personalities playing themselves Edited July 1, 2014 by keyse1 2
Full Range Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 A film that has always remained a favourite since I first saw it Stars - Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine That film is Being There A simple story that must be followed very closely - but the full impact is realised on the final scene of approximately one minute ( No spoilers ) 1

~Spyne~ Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) Define "old"... I'm only 31, so lots of movies could be "old" by my standards, hell, I'd even call Lion King old. So what, at least 20 years old, 30 years? To Kill A Mockingbird, North By Northwest, Cool Hand Luke, the original Star Wars trilogy, The Godfather: Part II (I enjoyed this MUCH more than than Part I), The Silence of the Lambs Seven Samurai Edited July 1, 2014 by ~Spyne~ 1
