Guest Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Not really Audio DIY as such... But still, here it is. So I've got this old iPhone which still works pretty good. Battery life is pretty crap though and the headphone jack is dodgy. Thought I'd use it as an iPod for the shed etc, and had to make some sort of arrangement to stop the headphone plug from moving, causing the sound to skip between the speakers. I'd also recently acquired a router and wanted to have a go at using it for something. So here's what's happened so far. I cut out a recess in some trusty old formply. Got a mini jack to RCA plug for the output. Perspex to hold it all in place. I cut the perspex with medium fine tooth jigsaw blade for metal by the way. Works a treat. A bit of paint never hurts. ^_^ Edited June 16, 2014 by Dirty_vinylpusher
Guest Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 We talked about that... Well, I talked and nobody listened  <_<
Guest Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Well... All done. The perspex cutting could probably have been a bit neater, but for something that just needs to be practical and will spend most of its time in a drawer in the shed, this will definitely do. ^_^
Malcolm Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Add some copper sheet & small dia copper tubing and go steam punk :-) 1
Guest Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Rest assured there were a few ideas regarding "bling"
Guest Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) It's amazing how many people have never heard of steampunk by the way. I usually describe it as recreating objects from an era that never existed. Edited June 16, 2014 by Dirty_vinylpusher
Malcolm Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) Jules Verne meets modern technology :-) add steam . Wood , copper , brass ,gauges Edited June 17, 2014 by Malcolm 1
Guest Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I'd love to dedicate a room to steampunk and make stuff like a TV, computer, stereo etc. But the whole room would have to be in the same theme. Floor vents with a smoke machine below for the steam effect... Mmmm. Maybe one day.
emesbee Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I think I posted this once before. http://audiotweak.net/2013/10/12/steampunk-steam-powered-turntable-puts-the-retro-in-cool/ 2
