My Lenehan ML3 speakers are now gong for a absolute bargain.

I purchased these amazing custom speakers in late 2012 direct from Mike Lenehan for $13,500.  $15,000 retail with full Duelund.

Popular Ferrari red color with black trim. Custom external Xover boxes are satin black.

They are in excellent condition. Speakers perform and function flawlessly.
At the price Mike asks his speakers.... they are one of the greatest bargains in audio even at retail price.

Very accurate, neutral, with a hint of warmth(the good kind), fast, smooth and of course very musical. All detail comes through beautifully. Wonderful rich mid-range and accurate tight bass. Capable of huge deep bass if in the recording.

Many who have heard Lenehan speakers state they some of if not the best speakers available at their retail price and even much higher. I agree.
True high end sound at a great price.

Equipped with custom Lenehan outboard Xover. Making the Xover void from any inner cabinet interference and way more practical/convenient. I always believed outboard Xovers sound a bit better than mounting internal. Plus they look pretty slick.

These external Xovers are in perfect condition. Maybe apart from some paint on top of box after taking lid off - as seen in pics.

Full HDF(not MDF which make a huge difference) cabinets, Lenehan Ribbontek wiring throughout(inc Xover), acoustic foam baffles and much more(check link at bottom). Of course personally hand tuned by Mike Lenehan.

Duelund VSF caps on the mid/woofers(25Hz-3kHz).  Duelund carbon resistors all round. 10awg air-cored inductors.

Mundorf Silver oil caps(3kHz-25kHz)

Everything about these ML3`s are Lenehan `reference` except for the tweeter caps.

While Duelund are my preferred cap for mid and lower frequencies I opted for the Mundorf silver oil for higher frequencies.

From my experience I personally did not think Duelund for highest frequencies are worth the extra cost. Especially if one experiments with adding select quality small bypass caps which I have considerable experience.
Silver oil alone take a very long time to fully open up and now do their job very nicely on these ML3`s, by themselves, after a good year of break-in.

Silver oil are one of my favorite caps for Xover higher frequencies(especially with select bypass caps) hence my decision for Silver oils here. Also helps being aware how long they actually take to sound their best which added to my decision. Patience is a virtue with these caps. Once run in these Mundorf silver oils do sound lovely on the ML3`s. Extended airy detailed smooth sweet and delicate and blend in with the Duelunds seamlessly.

It is easy to experiment with Xover parts due to Xover being fully custom external(with Ribbontek wiring) and exposed once lid is removed. I have some very positive experience in this area which I am happy to share with new owner -  Involving a very cheap easy mod with specific low value bypass caps to reach virtually all of Duelund sound in the HF, if this is desired, at minimal added cost.

Or of course if new owner truly desired to have these speakers fully equuiped with Duelunds then they can be easily swapped in as well with this handy easily accessible outboard Xover. Onother benefit obviously is one can now have much shorter speaker cables. This was a large factor for me personally as the cable i use is very expensive by the meter so the Lenehan outboard Xover saved me big $$ on cabling. Not to mention shorter SC often = better sound.

I have taken a chance, as some of you know, on some very large expensive unheard speakers from Europe which come with matching built in amps. Hence the only reason I decided to sell my current gear.

This new venture is costing me a small fortune(around 40K) and I need to sell to help pay the  last installment. Otherwise I would no doubt keep these speakers and not suffer the large $ loss.

This sale is a perfect example of the phrase "my loss is your gain"

I have all original packaging boxes for speakers.

Keep in mind these are heavy speakers for their size - 80kg each.

Prefer to ship within Australia at buyers expense. International buyers must contact me .

Feel free to ask any questions.

Sistrum platforms not included.  Unless buyer specifically wants them we could do a deal.

These ML3`s come with the original spiked ML3 bases(black) which are in perfect condition.

If I was in Adelaide I would be straight over for an audition. GLWTS shouldn't take long.

I can't get my head around some of the speaker bargains on this site at the moment. Especially the Lenehan ones. If these speakers are still  here by the end of the long weekend I'll be amazed.

Reference ML3 with Outboard crossovers for 4k....a bargain indeed. GLWTS , be surprised if these are not snapped up quickly.

That`s it. Impossible to go wrong with this purchase!!  I`m losing $10,000 with this sale in less than 2 years :hiccup

Oh and Interstate buyers do not worry....  my ML3`s are absolutely garuanteed to be genuine ML3R. Virtually as new 100% functional in every way and sound is superb.

Mike knows me quite well and can vouch for me.

Courier can be easily worked out if need be. They shall definitely be packed extremely well. I take much pride in the way i pack my gear before delivery.

So not to worry. I understand shipping is always a concern with such large heavy equipment.

I`m sure QLD Stereonet member `Letterman` will vouch for me as well for the way his heavy new Spectron mono blocks and pair of Sistrum 101`s were packed and delivered recently.

Cmon guys dig deep. I need to move my babies on to a happy new owner. Preferably within the next 2 weeks

I honestly can't believe you'd take such a hit on these, so they must be an absolute bargain for someone...80kgs!!! Like wow.

Yea i know....  `priced to sell`........understatement ?

Just the way things go with this crazy hobby sometimes. This is a painful sale in more ways than one believe me. But what to do?

Don`t worry over the months i have seriously considered keeping them as my faithful second pair.

It is just too impractical in the end unfortunately.  i also need the extra $$ and i don`t really want to mess around with haggling... so here we are

I'll certainly vouch for petieboy's packing and willingness to assist any buyer. He has very extensive experience and only too happy to share it.

He even convinced me to purchase a Phasure NOS1 Dac and I couldn't be happier. If I could get these ML3s in the front door they would be sold by now.

Buy with absolute confidence. PS The Sistrum platforms are well worth adding.

Hey Leo, long time.  Thanks so much for the kind words mate! So glad you are happy and everything has worked out for you :)

So these are the ML3 Reference but with outboard crossovers and the mentioned Mundorf silver oil cap in the crossover instead of the standard Deulund.  Have I got that right?

Hi Cafad, yes that is it. Duelund used for MF and LF.  Full in line Mundorf SO for the HF. Of course easily changed if so desired. Prices are better with duelund recently which helps. Personally i find SO(once burned in) to sound very nice and open indeed. FWIW from my experience with both caps it takes the SO longer to burn in than Duelund(takes a pretty long time too but tend to sound closer to their best quicker) rendering SO sometimes prematurely judged against the best.

I never use them for lower frequencies of course.

Mike informed me himself that he was never even able to hear properly burned in SO by them selves. Only used as bypass with lesser caps.....  mainly because of this very fact - taking so long to sound their best - and time/money etc restraints. Plus they are not cheap or easy to work with.

As most will probably know Mike mostly uses Duelund or either SO simply as bypass. Not as full in line cap unless requested(as i did)

Luckily i have quite a bit of experience with full in line SO`s in HF Xover networkks in prior speaker systems, including ML1`s, hence my initual purchase choice with these caps for my ML`3`s.  If money is no concern then Duelund is probably still the best no fuss option for most people regarding HF MO. Just maybe not anywhere near as big a difference as some people may first think compared to SO
