I have never stated that the product was unreliable. I have also not commented negatively in any way about these amplifiers so let's get that part straight.

My points were made about the ( now magically vanished ) original article supplied by the OP and I think it is worthy of discussion.

This is an audio forum yeah?

Essentially,Yes.

It's a damn shame the original basis for this discussion has been removed though.

Seems like nobody can express an opinion anymore, even in good faith

Okay, as this thought still hangs around (#42, #54), it's time to definitively say "In good faith, hand on heart, and with no crossed fingers behind my back, we (REDGUM) had no part in the link's evaporation." Why be fussed about a 12 yo (possibly 16yo) amp?! We're too busy organising the upcoming Birthday party.

The insides of the Creek Evolution 50A - which even comes with a tuner built in (and is priced in the same ballpark) - compare the size of the tranformers between the two amps.

Which one do you think is a better value proposition wrt to what you get for your $$?

A quick factoid re judging a transformer by its cover: REDGUM's UltraFlex power supply is not a conventional one. Hence when any REDGUM amplifier is tested for its WRMS rating, the measurement is of its performance at 10% Duty Cycle (i.e. power is available only 10% of the time!! - a bit like juuust starting to accelerate). Compare this with conventional power supply designs (i.e. basically most amplifiers sold) which get their specs when tested at 100% Duty Cycle (i.e. foot flat on the floor, maximum supply, nothing in reserve).

10% may sound pretty slack ... except for the speed at which these cycles repeat themselves. Which is what Transient Power is all about and why REDGUM's designs focus on it.

Great news. The tin foil hat brigade will be disappointed, though.

My guess, as I've said previously, is that the author realised the damage he was doing to Redgum and his conscience got the better of him - respect is due. Poor judgement in posting in the first place, but well recovered by removing the post.

Just my opinion, again.

or

the author may have realised the damage he was doing to his own credibilty and reputation with his haphazard biased generalisation of the inside components.
