unclemack Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I know that some like topless amp shots so here you go. Pretty meaty bugger... Cheers M 3
pete_mac Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Very nice! Quite beefy internals. You should ask if a mod can move this to the 'lids lifted' section of SNA: http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/forum/108-schematics-and-lids-lifted/
unclemack Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 No worries...didn't realise there was one.. Mods? Can you move this? Cheers M

Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 very nice indeed. lovely beefy heatsinks, power supply and caps in a neat clean design, no birds nests ! ...beautifull ! what more can you ask for Good sound reproduction would be nice.
betty boop Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Good sound reproduction would be nice. and whats that supposed to suggest ? I would have thought that goes without saying, am sure uncle M is quite happy with the way the kenwood sounds and we are talking schematics and lids lifted here.
Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 and whats that supposed to suggest ? There is no hidden meaning behind my response. Whilst nice looking internals are desirable in any audio product, good sound quality is vital. I've never heard that particular model, so I have no idea what it sounds like.
Saxon Hall Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) They are a very nice looking unit and well built. I would like one in my vintage set up that's for sure Edited March 30, 2014 by holdencaulfield2007

unclemack Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 Still happy with the sound Unclemack ? Sound great, Funny thing though. Noticed that it was out of phase. Sounstage was crazy wide but seemed to lack bass and vocals were all over the place. Changed the polarity on one speaker and now the bass has returned and vocals which should be dead centre, are that once again... Can an amp be out of phase? Cheers M

Cheers M Of course it is possible, but extremely rare for a Japanese company to make such a mistake. Here are the most likely scenarios (in approximate order of likelihood): * You have made a mistake in wiring your system (this is, far and away, the most common problem I see). * Your speakers are wired incorrectly internally (I've seen this one before). * The amp has bridging capability and you've wired it up incorrectly, or flipped a switch that should not be flipped. * The manufacturer has made a really, really dumb mistake. What is the model number of the amp? Oops. It's at the top of the thread. [smacks head] Edited March 31, 2014 by Zaphod Beeblebrox
