very nice indeed. lovely beefy heatsinks, power supply and caps in a neat clean design, no birds nests ! ...beautifull ! what more can you ask for :)

Good sound reproduction would be nice.

and whats that supposed to suggest ? I would have thought that goes without saying, am sure uncle M is quite happy with the way the kenwood sounds and we are talking schematics and lids lifted here.

There is no hidden meaning behind my response. Whilst nice looking internals are desirable in any audio product, good sound quality is vital. I've never heard that particular model, so I have no idea what it sounds like.

They are a very nice looking unit and well built. I would like one in my vintage set up that's for sure

well this sub section of the forum is about looking under the lid and internals. and that what this thread is about in case of the kenwood.

Still happy with the sound Unclemack ?

Sound great,

Funny thing though. Noticed that it was out of phase. Sounstage was crazy wide but seemed to lack bass and vocals were all over the place. Changed the polarity on one speaker and now the bass has returned and vocals which should be dead centre, are that once again...

Can an amp be out of phase?

Cheers

Of course it is possible, but extremely rare for a Japanese company to make such a mistake. Here are the most likely scenarios (in approximate order of likelihood):

* You have made a mistake in wiring your system (this is, far and away, the most common problem I see).

* Your speakers are wired incorrectly internally (I've seen this one before).

* The amp has bridging capability and you've wired it up incorrectly, or flipped a switch that should not be flipped.

* The manufacturer has made a really, really dumb mistake.

What is the model number of the amp?

Oops. It's at the top of the thread. [smacks head]

Trevor... I am a dunce of the highest order!!

I wasn't even drinking yesterday and I made the rookie mistake. Speakers connections were wrong...

:P

All good now.

Cheers
