pete_mac
Item: 2 x 2.8m TDK PCOCC PFTE star quad speaker cable Location: Ingleburn, south-western Sydney Price: $100 pick-up or $110 posted Australia-wideItem Condition: excellent Reason for selling: about to move house, so will source new (longer) cable laterPayment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD OnlyExtra Info: Superb Japanese-made NOS TDK speaker cable. PCOCC (pure copper - Ohno continuous cast), PTFE (teflon) dielectric, soft rubber outer sheath. This is one of the highest-specification star-quad cables that you can buy. Monarchy Audio discovered this NOS TDK wire a while ago, and initially sold it for $USD69 for 2 x 3m pairs. After the Positive Feedback review below, they jacked the price right up to $35/m, especially as the cable started to run out and new stock could not be sourced. I paid $35/m for the cable, and I got the last 7m left on Monarchy's reel (I have kept 1.4m for future use when upgrading amplifiers etc, as I only needed 2 x 2.8m cables for my existing setup). http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue46/monarchy_audio.htm The cable is a star-quad configuration (4 x 14AWG) so you can use it as a biwire cable, or you can parallel the positive and negative runs to create a 2 x 11AWG cable, which is how I used them. One end is fitted with MultiContact low mass beryllium copper BFA banana plugs and silver solder. The other end is currently bare copper. This means you can use the cable with any amp (including vintage amps which often don't have banana plug capabilities) and use the banana plugs at the speaker end. Alternatively, I can supply or fit screw-fitting BFA banana plugs so that the speakers are BFA banana terminated on each end. If you want a the unterminated end fitted with bananas in a biwire configuration, I can do this too. I love these cables to death (excellent clarity, great weight to the bass) but they will be too short in my future setup when I move.
