RankStranger Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Hey, check out GT Stringer, Adelaide surf/spag western/spy soundtrack instro maestros. Nice theremin intro from baritone sax man GT Trevor Miles Brown of the Night Terrors is one fine player that's a Moog Etherwave theremin he's playing Ha! I went to art school with Miles approximately one million years ago. I remember when he got his first real theremin from the US or somewhere. It was a lovely wooden box with chrome antennae. He is also an exceptionally good electric bass player, certainly the best I've ever played with.
RankStranger Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 This is a track from a band I played in that features that self-same theremin, borrowed for the sessions. Those were the days
mwhouston Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Jaycar sell one kit for these but I have no idea if they are good or bad. Supposedly the best are tube based.
zog Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 while we are listing notable theremin tracks, this one needs a mention:
Volunteer sir sanders zingmore Posted July 22, 2014 Volunteer Posted July 22, 2014 And the Beach Boys did *not* use one! http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2013/02/07/171385175/no-it-wasn-t-a-theremin-on-good-vibrations-remembering-paul-tanner
calypso Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 John Spencer used a theramin as well Yes, great band. Forerunners to bands like the White Stripes and The Black Keys and just as good. Good use of the Theremin at the end of this video. Great version of classic blues tune. :
