No, not semi acoustic....it does have an onboard pick-up (and a good one), but it is a fully fledged acoustic classical guitar. It could be used as a backing instrument for a solo singer, etc., but it was designed to be used as a solo concert instrument. It has a full, resonant tone, which makes it useful as a backing guitar, too. Replacement cost, new today, would be pushing $4K.
