jutta Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I second the dual PSA’s option. Had a single PB12+ and went to dual PSA XS30’s. Super impressed with the result. Currently stack atop of each other due to room constraints and they sound amazing there. Better than where I had them previously. I put that down to blind luck but the dual subs are a beast for movies and music Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Would be very difficult in an open plan/multi use room like my gear is in. A lot of the really enjoyable bass heavy scenes for me seem to be in the 25hz-60hz range. Movies like Interstellar, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Pacific Rim, Transformers, Oblivion, The Avengers etc have the "meat" of their bass in this range. Even the famous "Pods Emerge" from War Of The Worlds is mixed way hotter in the 20-50hz range I think the "bass shaker" kind of things might be a better option for feeling the very low bass, but admittedly I have no experience of what they are like or how easy they are to install and implement. 1
powerav Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Bass shakers are very gimmicky, feels like you are at a cheap amusement park.

I used MSO to optimise the subs for both stereo & HT and got good results: I never said you can't get "good" results. But I think anyone is kidding themselves that it's most likely the best position in the room. If you don't have the opportunity to have sub(s) in more than one position to experiment with then you can only do what you can do. But it's quite obvious that many pick the position which is most aesthetically pleasing and best for showing off. 2

Is it possible they were just set way too high, as is often the case with subwoofers themselves? Bass heads often aren't the most gentle handed of folks with their new toys 1

Bass heads often aren't the most gentle handed of folks with their new toys I probably should've said they were just not for me. I didn't get 2 subs to be louder but smoother and that they are. Had a richter Thor before and you could here that rumble from outside, it was too much. Since getting just 2 Pb 1000's the lows just seem smoother and more natural. I have one at front of room and one at back of room. 1

Basicly the same question except in looking at 1 pb13.5 ultra vs 2 pb2000's. ~ 4m x 7m x 2.7 dedicated ht. Not sure on what main speakers ill be running just yet. The pb2000's are cheaper and 2 pb13.5 ultras isnt an option (out of my price range). Opinions appreciated. Here you go ... grabit:D 1
AudioGeek Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Lol. Just realised how old the original post is. Caught me out! 1

Home theatre rookie Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Dang missed out. I would have jumped on that if logged on yesterday.

hopefullguy Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 i actually use 4 bst1 bass shakers in my 4 seats.. but as posted, i agree most people set them far to "high" i use them to compliment my vely 15" and yammy 10" sub combo and they work very well. like anything integration is very important. 1
warweary Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 nah, go for two sb13's, can't hurt right. 1
