Recommended Posts

Item: Monarch 8000 Vintage Integrated Amplifier
Location: Brisbane
Price: Free
Item Condition: one channel is dead
Reason for selling: not usable without repairs
Payment Method:
Extra Info: I bought this amp back in 1974. It had very good reviews and was considered an equal to Rotel.

Claimed output is 55W RMS into 8ohms, and 75W RMS into 4 ohms, but actual output was quite a bit higher from memory.

I have had this amp sitting in the cupboard for a few years, and can’t bring myself to throw it out - it may be a simple fix if you have the skills, but I doubt whether it's worth paying someone for the repairs. One channel is dead. It could be the same issue I had back in Feb 1995 – power transistor blew. I still have the invoice with the details of what transistor(s) were replaced. Note – I have the operating manual & it has a full circuit diagram. Other issue – missing the tape monitor decorative knob.

It looks very similar to a Denon amp, and this guy suggests it may be from the same factory.

It also has a link to another site with more internal photos of the Monarch.

Prefer pickup from northside Brisbane, but will ship if you want to pay. Note - weight is 11.2kg
