Dolphy Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) Fellow collectors, This morning I woke up to two unauthorised transactions from myplaydirect. The total amount was about $56.00. Just a heads up so that you check your credit cards. Edited March 21, 2014 by dolphy
Keith Anderson Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Why would they have your credit card details? In this day and age I will never give my credit card over a website. I'll pay paypal as it keeps your details away from the seller. Just curious 1
manchu Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Just a heads up so that you check your credit cards. thanks for the heads up. Checked and no activity on my card. Why would they have your credit card details? In this day and age I will never give my credit card over a website. I'll pay paypal as it keeps your details away from the seller. My first purchases with popmarket were with Paypal, but after realising the can take months to ship I decided to start using CCard. Paypal gets charged on order. CC charged on shipment. You'd hope a subsidiary of Sony might be a reasonably safe option....well except that whole playstation network hacking saga!!.
bwhitesox Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Normally there is an option to store your creditcard details with the site, Just untick when paying via this method.

I just had 5 small US$ ( 4 x $5 & 1 x $10) transactions all on the same day authorised by paypal going to fiverr.com. All part of my so called pre-approved payments plan with them based on the email I received from paypal. I have never heard of fiverr.com, let alone authorised periodic pre payments, 5 at a time. I disputed it with paypal and they credited the transactions 7 days later, however ZERO explanation on how this happened.
Keith Anderson Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Sure but they re-payed it with what 7 days, I had my CC used for a $350 purchase, and it certainly wasn't 7 days getting my money back from the stinking bank, hence I will not use my CC on overseas sites, don't care who they are. And do you think the bank gave a explanation not only how it happened or why it took so long to get my money back, NO
Dolphy Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 I've been using my cc for over 15 years and this is the first time I've been stung. I shall be using PayPal moving forward. I didn't intend this to start a debate, it was more to raise awareness.
eman Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 ...and well worth raising. I often get 'Phishing' email pretending to be from Paypal. They're getting better at it. I forward them to Paypal as requested by them. Nothing seems to happen but they did acknowledge receipt once or twice.
elcamry Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Thanks for the heads up , never hurts for a warning to be repeated.
Linkin Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 This is why I have a Visa debit... No money in the account = no purchases! No debt, either...
DoggieHowser Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 This is why I have a Visa debit... No money in the account = no purchases! No debt, either... That's not true as I found out not too long ago. I used my debit card by mistake when paying for a car service. The transaction went through and I was none the wiser until I checked my statement. Lucky I was logging on to Internet banking a day later and quickly transferred funds over and didn't get charged a fee.
