LFD Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Stage 1 `2000-2006 Marantz CD63SE Ambience Pre (was Tony’s personal pre) Elektra Reference Power Amp Ambience 1800 My first serious setup, there is something the Ribbon speakers can do that other speakers simply can’t, I miss them. Huge soundstage, sublime top end (particularly special and Bjork’s Verspertine) Pity I was not knowledgeable to get the best out of this system (better photos, better speaker placement and using a good sub) Stage 2 About 2006 This is what happens when you are single and attend a Planet Audio inspired Osborn GTGs. Consonance Droplet Supratek Pre Consonance 845 Power Amps Osborn Epitome and Bass Bins **Logitech Touch added at a later date This system served me well for quite a few years. Worst part of the system is how much real estate the speakers require in my small room *the Power Amps and the Speakers an now sold. Stage 3 Droplet Supratek Pre Logitech Touch Funny the guys at SGR had a busy weekend. So here's a picture of the 2nd SGR system in the showcase today.. Stage 4 God help me but once the new system settles in, I may get a DAC to use with the Logitech…I won’t mention the war at this stage.. Edited March 24, 2014 by LFD 4

Gordon Macfarlane Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Hi LFD , NICE SYSTEMS. Looks like a Chardonnay pre ? Mick suggested I replace the standard output transformers in the pre with Lundahl 1674's and this was a big improvement in transparency. It's easy to do if you are handy with a soldering iron and way less than 30mins work for a good tech if you are not.
Telecine Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) Great looking system. I see that you have broken with the Jarrah tradition with the new speakers. Edited March 24, 2014 by Telecine
